This race was held in the future, and yet it was pretty old school.
Watching that has left me wondering how Ferrucci finished 3rd at Indy. I think he was a lap down by like lap 15. Herta lost a couple laps in the pits with a bad stop and finished 5 laps ahead of him.
Foyt has bad dampers and they struggle on bumpy courses. Such as Iowa. Quite good at Indy but the team has lots of development work to do.
Anyway, let's go!

Canapino slams the wall after 88 laps and we got a FCY. Car looks OK.
Should give everyone a chance to breathe. Great racing.

That was stupid. Maybe only the second in-race DQ in IndyCars since Townsend Bell in 2002?

Meanwhile Pedersen has crossed the Shiggy Hattori line. He was parked for being too slow. Don't bet on him coming back in 2024.

Even Shiggy finished one race. Once.
Gateway 1999:
After successfully running numerous incident free laps in practice and qualifying, Shigeaki Hattori spins in the pre-race morning warm-up and suffers minor front-end damage. The team is able to make repairs, and Hattori finishes his first CART race completing 229 spin free laps.
Oh and at Montegi..... inspired by his home crowd he kept it off the wall the entire weekend. Clutch failure ultimately caused his retirement
Quite an amusing read: The Shigeaki Hattori (1999-2001) Scorecard

* I married Miss Right. Just didn't know her first name was Always
