Bottom post of the previous page:

Marc Marquez just had a crazy crash and must be up for a penalty for nexxt race. Cleaned Oliveira up big time. Poor Oli wouldnt have known what hit him. Think MM might have had a touch with Martin on his way through but still all down to MM that one.

This was the kind of bonehead move that warrants starting from pitlane. However I expect MM93 will get away with a mere long lap penalty due to his status.

Good scrap for 4th 5th 6th between A Marquez Miller and Binder

At the front Vinales is sticking with Bagnaia with a gap back to Bezzechi in 3rd.

Jorge Martin has started the season in fine erratica, throwing it down the road today

Binder now the leading KTM and up to 4th

Fabio still down in 9th..

Geez that Aprilia is fast in a straightline. Marquez just flew past Binder on the straight.

Battle for 4th now has 5 or 6 bikes line astern.

Down to 13 runners as some keep throwing themselves off.

So Bagnai Vinales and Bezzechi on the podium, Zarco came from the depth to get 4th from Marquez Binder and Miller 7th, then Fabio 8th.

The battle for 4th saved what was otherwise a race that was a bit uneventful up the front.

Got to say Bezzechi hung in there and I thought after the start he might drop away. Good steady ride and deserved his podium..

Looks like many riders struggled with worn tires at the end and Zarco didn't which allowed him to jump into 4th place. Good to see Bezzecchi with a podium, he has more raw pace than Marini but makes more mistakes. He should be the top VR46 rider this season IMO.

Augusto Fernandez in 13th place ahead of Franco Morbidelli who keeps sucking ass for like third season in a row. I guess many people forget he was Joan Mir's biggest rival during the COVID 2020 season, he's done nothing since and the leg injury suffered in 2021 is no longer an excuse but I believe this is the final year on Yamaha contract so he's a sitting duck anyway. I won't be surprised if he's not in MotoGP at all next season.

It seems Marc was injured in the crash....he was spotted afterwards with a cast over his right hand and will be examined for “a possible fracture to the first metacarpal bone" (In laymans terms thats the bone where the thumb joins the hand.)

Its a quick turnaround with Argentina this coming weekend. If x-rays show there is a fracture....
Also yet to hear of any penalty being given. Its so wrong if he gets away with it. He knows he screwed up badly as he was very quick to go and apologise to Miguel and his team

MotoGP has issued a double long lap penalty for Marquez at the next available round. Still he got away with it to some degree. I would have been for a pitlane start and Aleix Espargaro calls for a one-race ban.

Btw, it's also been revealed Jorge Martin suffered a broken toe as a result of Marquez bouncing off him first.

No wonder Marquez agrees with the penalty. He could have been penalised a lot worst but ultimately wasn't.

MARQUEZ CONFIRMED OUT OF ARGENTINA.... at least.

Marc Marquez has been ruled out of the Argentina MotoGP due to confirmation he has a broken hand. It was a maybe last night as he awaited further tests but has now been confirmed.

The Repsol Honda Team has advised that he has broken the first metacarpal in his right hand and already undergone surgery.

It means he will miss the round at Termas de Rio Hondo this coming weekend, with no confirmation yet on if he will return for the Grand Prix of the Americas a fortnight later.
“After surgery to repair the broken first metacarpal in his right hand, Marc Marquez will miss the second round of the 2023 MotoGP World Championship,” read a statement from the factory Honda team.

“Upon returning to Spain for further checks, Marc Marquez was diagnosed with a displaced intrarticular fracture of the base of the first metacarpal of the thumb of the right hand.

“The #93 immediately underwent surgery at the Ruber Internacional Hospital in Madrid with Dr. Ignacio Roger de Oña leading a team consisting of Dr. Samuel Antuña and Dr. Andrea Garcia Villanueva.

“The surgery consisted of a closed reduction of the fracture and internal fixation of the same with two screws and passed without inciden

Now the bit that pisses me off.....
We know he got given a Double Long Lap penalty for his sins. Not enough of a punishment in my view but it was something. But.....

Apparently the punishment was given to be served in Argentina. He wont be at Argentina so he wont have to serve the penalty. That to me is offensive. I cant even believe that it is so pathetic. The penalty should be held over to a race when he CAN serve it, not just be wiped.

Dont give me crap about how missing the race is his penalty. OK it ruined MM93's race as well. So what. He should have thought about that when he decided to be stupid. He is missing the race because he made a bonehead move that ruined 2 riders races, indeed put a severe dent in their championships and has left them both injured. And screwed the hopes of all the Portugese fans who were looking forward to a good race from Oliveira. Whilst talking of him, he still has to undergo tests to ensure he has no ligament damage.... if he does he will likely not be racing either.

So besides his self inflicted injuries Marc will now not have to serve any penalty for his boneheaded and irresponsible riding.

Abslute bloody nonsense. : :banghead: :banghead:  :annoyed

I still think MM93 got off lightly. He should have got a holiday as a penalty.

Especially as now Oliveira has had further tests and his injuries are more severe than initially diagnosed.... he is out for the weekend as well. That makes 4 of the grid not running this weekend.....Oliveira joining Marquez, Bastianini , and Pol Espargaro

Honda has appealled the penalty change so let's see how much protection Marquez really has. It's obvious the want to avoid this penalty being applied at COTA which is one of Marquez's best tracks results-wise (technically second best behind Sachsenring).
