The Suntory sponsor was apparently a coffee brand - sold in cans? :amazed: Must have been pretty big if they could afford TV commercials with Arnold Schwarzenegger
Vending machine culture is huge in Japan and buying coffee in a can is extremely normal. I checked on the history of West, apparently it was extremely bitter and didn't sell well, so they rebranded it as BOSS in the early 90s and that name is everywhere.
Yep, Boss is here. Very thick aluminum!
Certainly is..... in different types from black to iced Latte, Caramel Latte and Double Expresso, Vanilla Latte.... even Rainbow Mountain Blend.

$40 for 12x 237ml (180ml for the Rainbow Mountain blend.

Sounds very odd..... made from "Agricultural Material" doesnt bear thinking about.

Your favourite Flash Brew coffee in a can from Japan is now available for "contact free" delivery by the case, to your door.
Flash brew coffee made with a rich Brazilian bean blend, milk and sugar.

* Caffeine level is variable, as coffee is an agricultural material in which caffeine naturally occurs. The variety of coffee bean used, geographical location, processing method, and how the coffee is prepared, are all factors that can effect caffeine level. A shot of coffee contains around 80-105mg of caffeine.

And this BOSS stuff is far more palatable than something like Starbucks. I could have sworn we had BOSS sponsorship in F1 in the last few decades but then I realised that was Hugo, not Suntory

It seems coffee sponsorship in motorsport is rife. How about this one I found from the US NASCAR Infinity series.

FDC aka Fire Dept Coffee.

Maybe we need a thread for weird race car sponsorships? :idunno:

Tomas Mezera made a total of 5 BTCC appearances in his career and only one of them in a Maserati Biturbo 331 - Thruxton #1 1989. This should be him unless it's Nick May from Thruxton #2.

In 1987, the late Csaba Kesjár became the first Hungarian to test a Formula 1 car when he did three demonstration laps in a Zakspeed after that year's Hungarian Grand Prix, his death in a Formula 3 crash at Norisring in 1988 meant it wouldn't be until Zsolt Baumgartner in 2003 that a Hungarian actually raced in F1.

Derek Daly tested a Jordan F1 car 20 years ago. Presumably for a TV piece. Seems he wasn't very fast.

Is that a low level event?

By Tony's standards, yes. It's the Canadian regional stock car racing series.

Stewart was famous for doing those 'low-level' events - the guy just wanted to race!

After winning Le Mans with Bentley in 2003 and finishing Runner-Up the following year with Audi, Guy Smith drove the #17 Rocketsports Lola B02/00 in the second half of the 2004 Champ Car Season, peaking with 9th at Laguna Seca and Surfers Paradise.

He also got to test the Williams FW17 at Silverstone as a prize for winning the 1995 UK Formula Renault title.

Colin McRae (BMW 318is) as guest entry for 1992 BTCC Knockhill round. Finished 8th in race 1 and 5th in race 2 only to be DQ for causing a collision with Matt Neal of all people

The livery was standard for David Richards' Prodrive team that season (full-time drivers Tim Sugden and Alain Menu who fractured his leg in Knockhill paddock before the races!).

Colin was quickly shuffled into the motorhome after the race because Steve Neal was apparently on the warpath.
