Rare and Unraced Motor Racing Liveries
Mainly liveries that were never used in an actual race (like the green Jordan 192 or the silver and blue BAR 001) but also liveries that were one-offs or only lasted a couple of races or so before being changed (like the predominantly blue Jordan 195 or the dark blue Tyrrell 023).

What's the green Jordan 192 livery? The Barclay one?

Weren't Jordan green in 1991? I know / believe Jordan going blue was to do with Sassol joining as a sponsor.
Lets go back to why Jordan was Green in the first place..... mainly because of his being Irish. (he also had minor backing from the Irish Tourism board.) He literally looked at all the world corporations that had green in their corporate colours and approached them. Thats how he got Fuji.
I know the story of the Sassol sponsorship for 1992.... Sasol, is /was South African petrol/oil business, they had a tax break from the government to promote itself out of the country. Sassol wanted to go into F1 but all the other teams already had fuel sponsors and allegiances. Except Eddie. Senna helped Eddie get Sassol. (SA was the first GP of the year, Senna. was best mates with Gugelmin who was driving for Eddie and did it to help his mate out. .
This thread needs pictures. Just saying.

Never raced as green though.(as I think you mentioned.
They had the Sasol blue for the South African GP that opened the season. As explained before thats why they were blue. As mentioned the Sasol deal was a late deal
The Sasol free Green livery was their interim testing livery pre the Sasol deal. I believe it was used in testing (by Modena) the 192 at Silverstone Barcelona and Estoril, for testing the new Yamaha engine.
Dont forget at this stage Eddie was near broke. 1991 had come at a cost to Eddie well over his budget. Barclay had sponsored him prior to F1 in F3000 and had agreed to give him a few quid to help. Remember he replaced Gachot with an unknown to him bloke called Schumacher.... only because he had a large cheque for the drive.

Below Gugelmin at the SA GP.

Nowhere near as nice as the stunning 7-Up livery. But not bad. Better than what they ran for the actual season.Nononsensecapeesh wrote: ↑1 year ago https://i71.servimg.com/u/f71/17/80/12/55/57251610.jpg - Jordan were initially green in 1992.

The 2020 Williams FW43 was launched with a ROKIT livery. It tested with it but then Williams and Rokit split pre season.
They ultimately raced with a Sofina livery

2017 Force India.
They launched with an extra silver version of their 2016 livery and used it in pre season testing. It never raced
They then announced the BWT sponsorship a week before the season opened.

Or the Williams that BMW used as a 'mule' to test their engines prior to the 2000 season. It started white and then became blue with white stripes. I believe they started with a 2018 car and then upgraded to a later car closer to its launch..
The later versions of it. The first ones (front and rear) are Ralf Schumacher testing in December 1999 at Jerez.
This is what they launched with. A shame.

Obviously BAR 1999 debut.
Toyota 2002 pre-season testing. I remember this one since I was playing Grand Prix 3 then and everyone wanted to add the new Toyota carset livery and waited to see what the car will look like.
The all-orange Spyker 2007 pre-season livery which was toned down by demand IIRC.
The somewhat forgotten Glas F1 project with Mauro Baldi attempting F1 comeback in 1991 (this later re-surfaced as Modena Lamborghini after money changed hands half-way through 1990).

Team Dynamics tested their Honda Civics in their then-traditional red and white colours in preparation for the 2004 British Touring Car Championship. It was only when they signed Dan Eaves in place of Gareth Howell that they gained Halfords sponsorship and changed their livery to orange and black.

The Blue 1999 BAR was stunning imo. I loved it. Pity it was the sub-brand for awareness and they ran Lucky Strike for 2000 onwards.
