The farce continues:
Formula 2 feature race winner in Austria, Richard Verschoor, has been disqualified post-race, while second-placed Jehan Daruvala was handed a time penalty.
It means third placed Logan Sargeant is now the official winner of the race from Enzo Fittipaldi and Roberto Merhi.
Ironically, Merhi had crossed the line second but a five-second time penalty for track limits saw him fall to fifth in the provisional results.
I did ask the question post race if anyone had actually escaped getting a penalty. It seems those that might have got away with not getting one was quickly added to the list of those that did..
I must admit trying to dry the track before the race is a new one on me.(Daruvala's penalty was for that.)

Pourchaire loses France F2 sprint race podium after Armstrong clash
Theo Pourchaire has lost his FIA Formula 2 sprint race podium at Paul Ricard after being handed a five-second post-race penalty.
He was investigated by the stewards after Saturday’s race for forcing Marcus Armstrong off track at Turn 11 in the battle for third place.
They determined that Pourchaire was “unable to hold the line, ran wide and forced Car 7 off track,” adding that “Car 10 was wholly responsible for the incident.”
The penalty drops him to 7th.
Enzo Fittipaldi was handed a five-place grid drop for Sunday’s race for causing a collision (mentioned in my previous post during the race) with Roberto Merhi at Turn 8. Fittipaldi then spun backwards across the track and stopped broadside on whre he was collected by Amaury Cordeel, who suffered terminal suspension damage, with both drivers’ races ended.
Fittipaldi had qualified 14th, so will now start from 19th for Sunday’s feature race.
Revised finishing order and points scored.

Oscar Piastri in F1! Catch the fever! Vettel Hate Club. Life membership.
Whoops it seems there were a few more penalties handed out after the F2 race thus further changing the order.
Armstrong seemingly involved in a couple of other incidents as well....one more as victim and another as perpetrator.
Jüri Vips has received a five-second time penalty for forcing Armstrong off the track at Turn 15. The Stewards determined that Vips tried to pass Armstrong up the inside of Turn 15 but was unable to hold the line. Consequently, he ran wide, made light contact with Armstrong’s car and forced him off track.
Furthermore, Armstrong has been awarded a five-second time penalty as well for causing a collision with Jehan Daruvala on Lap 19. Whilst battling over second place,
Nett result of these penalties : Vips is demoted from P6 to P11,
Armstrong drops from P9 to P13.
This promotes Felipe Drugovich to third,
Logan Sargeant moves into the final points-paying position in eighth.

Another Aussie to join F3. Albeit only for a couple of rounds.
Australian 17 year old Christian Mansell will this weekend make his debut in the FIA Formula 3 Championship.
He will join Charouz Racing System at the Hungaroring. It’s the first of two guest appearances in the F3 Championship with Mansell also set to compete at Spa-Francorchamps in late August. So he wont be at Monza or Zandvoort, the only two remaining F3 rounds after Spa.
I guess at 17 he wont have the big 'tache to go with the name. Or the Brummie accent..

Iwasa was in flying form and took a cracking pole0.381 faster than Armstrong. Drugovich kept his chances of a good weekend high with 3rd from 4th pace Pourchaire 5th Sargeant, 6th Vips, 7th Vesti, 8th Hauger, 9th Fittipaldi and Doohan in 10th.
So at least Doohan will get to start the Sprint race in pole!
So with Piastri's interests at Williams potentially revolving round Sargeant not winning, Drugovich, the title chase leader starting the feature race where the big points are from 3rd is good, made better with 2nd placed in the championship Pourchaire 4th.

Alexander Smolyar took his first FIA Formula 3 pole of the season in Hungary after many of the front runners failed to make it across the line for their final lap due to traffic delays..
Smolyar set his time early in qualy ..... Several other drivers, including Arthur Leclerc, were set to improve on their times when the red flag was waved after Carlin’s Zak O’Sullivan came to a halt on the start-finish straight.
With just two minutes left on the clock, the field emerged for a dash to the line to make their last attempts, but traffic caused many to miss out, including championship leader Victor Martins, all three Prema cars and Isack Hadjar. (It was the Prema car of Jak Crawwford that seemed to cause the holdup that cost his Prema teamates Leclerc and Berman to miss out.
As it happens Smolyar got through the chaos and improved his lap time again.
Aussie Christian Mansell was 24th out of 30 in his F3 debut..

F3 Sprint race close to a start. Its wet although maybe not raining too hard. All on wets though. However it is set for an SC led start
It will be an eye opener for Christian Mansll who is in an F3 car for the first time, has only drive F3 yesterday in the dry, so today's race will be a baptism of fire.

Sargeant has damage and an SC has been deployed for Dennis Hauger who got pushed off by Sargeant at T1. Not Sargeants fault.... he got squeezed into Hager by Drugovich.
Doohan lost the lead at the start to Fittipaldi who promptly went wide and lost places to Doohan and Vips.
Just seen Sargeant is a DNF with damage obviously beyond a quick fix.
Green flag againlap 4/28 restart

F2 and F3 on the support card for this weekend.... in fact they have a triple back to back with F1 as both on on the card at Zandvoort next week and Monza the wweek after.
just about to get the F3 qualifying. 30 minute session. Oh yeah the track is wet after that little precipitation at the end of F1 P1.
Aussie Christian Mansell is back in a car again following his recent F3 debut.

Well that was quite fun as the track dried and the times tumbled as each car crossedd the line. We ended up with the 7th different Fastest Qualifier this year. .... Caio Collet took pole for the feature race with the sprint race being a partially reverse grid.
Zane Maloney and William Alatolo were 2nd and 3rd.
