F2 and F3 also in the middle of a three back to back events and on duty here at Zandvoort.

F3 qualifying on after the F1 P1.
F2 quallifying immediately before the F1 P2 session.

Some very stupid officiating there for the F3.

End of qualifying - 50sec or so to go. Car goes off into the wall at turn 3. They red flag the session and don't restart it.

Don't even let the drivers who are on a hot lap finish it. No risk to the driver if they throw waved yellows across turns 1-3.

Stupid.

F2 and F3 set to partner with Aramco to pioneer sustainable fuels from 2023

Formula Motorsport Limited (FML) have today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with F1 Global Partner Aramco to introduce the use of sustainable fuels in both championships from 2023. It demonstrates how the FIA F2 and F3 Championships are pioneers in this important area of development, while continuing to bring the FIA Formula One World Champions of the future through the single-seater pyramid.

The new agreement – which is subject to World Motor Sport Council approval – forms part of the wider sustainability strategy announced by F1 in 2019, which will see the sport become Net Zero Carbon by 2030......
By 2026, all FIA Championships will be required, by regulation, to power their cars with 100% sustainable fuels. A key milestone in the journey will be the introduction of a 100% sustainable fuel from the 2026 F1 season, alongside the next generation hybrid engines.

Motor sport continues through these innovations not only to promote, but also to be at the forefront of the creation of the multiple technologies that will play a critical role in the future of the entire transportation industry.

Aramco is working on the development of sustainable fuels as a “drop-in” technology, meaning they could be rolled out to the world’s existing automotive fleet – helping to reduce global transport emissions.

Ahmad Al-Khowaiter, Chief Technology Officer, Aramco, added: “Aramco is leveraging its unique scale, global network, and technological expertise to help deliver low-carbon transport solutions. We believe strongly in the power of partnerships and, through our collaboration with F2 and F3, we aim to demonstrate the significant potential of liquid synthetic fuels.

“We are exploring practical solutions that can enable decarbonization of the transport sector, from low-carbon fuels and more efficient engines to cutting-edge materials and carbon capture technology. By teaming up with F2 and F3 on this journey, we hope to make a positive impact by enabling emissions reduction in motorsport and, ultimately, the broader transportation sector.”

F2 Zandvoort: Drugovich on pole as title rival Pourchaire crashes

Felipe Drugovich snagged a second consecutive F2 pole position at Zandvoort as title contender Theo Pourchaire crashed out of qualifying.
Doohan 2nd by 0.2 and Logan Sargeant secured 3rd, with Richard Verschoor 4th at his home race.

FIA F2 Zandvoort qualifying results and feature race grid.
Cla Driver Team Time Gap
1 Felipe Drugovich Netherlands MP Motorsport 1'20.713
2 Jack Doohan United Kingdom UNI-Virtuosi 1'20.939 0.226
3 Logan Sargeant United Kingdom Carlin 1'21.241 0.528
4 Richard Verschoor Italy Trident 1'21.242 0.529
5 Ayumu Iwasa France DAMS 1'21.243 0.530
6 Liam Lawson United Kingdom Carlin 1'21.281 0.568
7 Dennis Hauger Italy Prema Powerteam 1'21.347 0.634
8 Jüri Vips United Kingdom HitechGP 1'21.443 0.730
9 Marcus Armstrong United Kingdom HitechGP 1'21.454 0.741

21 Ralph Boschung Spain Campos Racing 1'22.399 1.686
22 Tatiana Calderon Czech Republic Charouz Racing System 1'23.113 2.400

Given the above will be the grid for the feature race the Sprint race is the usual top 10 reverse grid crap.
..... so, Clement Novalak in 10th above starts on reverse grid pole for Saturday’s sprint race, with Marcus Armstrong alongside him and tJuri Vips in third. etc.

F2 has confirmed a one-off rules change for this weekend.

While drivers ordinarily cannot make their mandatory pit stops during Virtual Safety Car periods, this weekend that will apply to regular Safety Car periods too.

This is believed to be due to Zandvoort's short pit lane.

Oh and someone familiar was at Zandvoort for his sons inaugral F3 race.
Sebastian Montoya, son of former Formula 1 racer Juan Pablo, will debut in FIA Formula 3 at Zandvoort this weekend with Campos Racing.

The American-Colombian takes the place of Hunter Yeany, who will be absent for a third round while he recovers from a wrist injury sustained at the Red Bull Ring.

I said one of former Eff one driver Juan Pablo Montoya's sons was making a one-o  ff appearance in F3, It seems that particular one of Juan Pablo's sons benefitted from said Flag nonsense as he came 7th.

Good one by Juan's #1 son.
This will eplain my Juan track mind. Normal service will be restored.

Lol. Doohan has just given himself a flatspot from hell trying to take the lead, and his front left is now flashing bits of cord so he will be having to stop soon

Hehehe Token Aussies running 1&2 with Lawson and Armstrong!

And we have an SC for Sato in the barriers. Going to help Doohan and Drugovich as the pitlane has been closed and those ahead yet to stop.

Looks like Sato lost a wheel.... he had just pitted.
