Not too well I'm afraid. I imagine he'll be fighting with Dalton Kellett.
I hope I'm wrong though. It would be nice to see him semi competitive.

I really don't know, it's pretty clear to anyone who constantly watches NASCAR that he became the "4th car" at Hendrick in his final couple of years. If his equipment is good he will run well, if not he might struggle.

It's a good PR coup, but I don't expect any fireworks. If he manages to grab a top-10 this year its a job well done.

Very hard to say. It's so different from what he's been good at his whole career -- mainly off-road racing and NASCAR, both where sliding is the norm and you have to rotate the car on power and throttle-steer for the most part. While in Indycar, it's the opposite -- almost full throttle in a very edgy car with a razor-thin margin for error. Personally, I feel he'd be better off retiring and spending time with his young family instead of beginning yet another chapter in what is arguably the most dangerous form of four-wheeled motorsport.

He's going to struggle.
Johnson was one of the slowest cars (if not the slowest) in preseason testing. I don't think that will change in race conditions.

Do you see him returning to NASCAR if his IndyCar tenure proves unfruitful?

He seemed ok in the Daytona 24 hour driving a DPi Cadillac. Mind you I say that not having actually checked his times against others in the car.

It's possible if he's looking for money. I doubt he will ever go back full time though.

It sounded like he was a lot slower than his teammates from what I have read elsewhere.Everso Biggyballies wrote: ↑3 years agoMind you I say that not having actually checked his times against others in the car.

OK fair enough, I stand corrected. I was following the race more than I was the details.JR90 wrote: ↑3 years agoIt sounded like he was a lot slower than his teammates from what I have read elsewhere.Everso Biggyballies wrote: ↑3 years agoMind you I say that not having actually checked his times against others in the car.

Johnson was struggling big time. Kobayashi handed over the car with 18 seconds lead and Johnson lost over 16 seconds to van der Zande in ca. 30 minutes during the ninth hour.

He's the successful older business man who buys all the toys he always wanted as a youngster and only now has the freedom to do what he wants.
