Virtual Le Mans Entry List Revealed

30 LMPs, 20 GTEs

The entry list is out for the virtual Le Mans 24 Hours next month, which will see a mixture of teams and drivers race for 24 Hours on rFactor 2 over the weekend (13-14 June) which was originally slated to host the real-life event.

The list (created by a Selection Committee) features 50 cars, 30 of them LMP2 ORECA 07 chassis. Several current FIA WEC teams have signed up for the race including prototype teams Toyota Gazoo Racing, Rebellion Racing (which has partnered with Williams and will enter four cars), Jota Sport, Signatech and ByKolles as well as GT entries from Aston Martin Racing, Ferrari and Porsche.

As for the IMSA sportscar teams, Corvette Racing, which will miss Le Mans in September, has signed up, as has Penske which races ORECA-based Acuras in the WeatherTech DPi class.

As well as a large selection of pro sportscar drivers, sim racers will also be on the grid as part of entries from Redline, Veloce, Williams Esports and Zansho.

Interestingly, there is a reserve list for the race, which includes notable names such as Team LNT (a current full-season WEC entrant) IMSA privateer GTE team Risi Competizione (which will race at Le Mans in September) and ELMS regulars Duqueine, G-Drive, GRAFF and Kessel Racing.

The organisers received over 85 requests in the days between the launch of the event and the publication of the entry list.

A live TV programme around the 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual will be broadcast around the world, to supplement all usual gaming channels and social media networks, and more details on this element will be revealed soon.

I don't know who I am more disappointed by. Abt and Hoerzing are fools.

Abt obviously did not appreciate how seriously they would take it. I could see why Abt might disregard sim racing as unimportant, but it has been the only way for motorsports to get exposure for the past 2-3 months now. It's a bummer but I kind of support their decision to fire him.

I'm enjoying how drivers are finding new and novel ways of losing their jobs and becoming hated. It's an insight into some of them that we'd otherwise never have.

For Abt, he's representing sponsors. Or he's meant to be, if he's not trying to cheat. Good riddance.

Abt should have seen the Larson and Pagenaud fallout and seen sense. He didn't. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

This. Also, charity fraud is kind of a big deal (they raced for charity contributions).

Is anyone watching the Virtual LM24? Failnando Failonso ran out of fuel on his first stint (game glitch) and was the only retirement. Now four hours in, the server crashed and they gave him his car back, and instead of being 72 laps behind, they added some laps and now he is only 6 laps behind....

Not watching at all. Watching the Portimao 24h. But i heard from the glitch that caught up Fernando. A pity, because he had shown in the The Race All-Star Series, that he is bloody fast.

It's pretty fascinating to be honest. I want to get back to proper sim racing now, not just offline stuff.

Yeah, same. I'm hoping to get right back into it in retirement. New computer, new rig, VR, a proper seat. Go, go, go!
