#5 ; 04/04/20 ; Ulyanovsk (Russia) - Orsk (Russia) ; 407 nm
Today's flight took my from Ulyanovsk's Vostochny airport to Orsk. Take-off from the vast runway and home base of my the airline company.
Calm conditions in Ulyanovsk. Slightly hazy, but a nice early spring day with a (real world) temperature of 10°C.
Heading eastwards, leaving the mighty river Volga behind me.
Tupolev-134 passing 1,000 feet below me.
Nearly full moon on the horizon & early spring: Easter is nearby.
Descending into Orsk. This city is located some 100 miles south-east of the Ural mountain range (the supposed border between the European and Asian part of Russia).
All my approaches in Russia have been visual approaches. Runway in sight and cleared to land.
No issues upon landing. Just deploying the speed brake and thrust reversers.
We are literally within walking distance of the Kazakh border. The landscape is also changing gradually into steppe as I'm flying further south.
Unloading cargo from the back, with some typical Russian planes (Ilyushin, Tupolev) in the vicinity.
Up next is a flight to Baikonur in Kazakhstan, famous for its Cosmodrome.
This means the fifth different country on my journey, and the second continent: Asia.
