Phil Parsons Near Flip - 1986 Talladega 500

There was a wreck on the backstretch on lap 159. Just off frame, the air lifted up Phil Parson's car and he flew through the infield grass. This was very similar to Spencer in 1992.

I didn't see any photos of that on here, and was wondering if anyone has ever seen any.

Tried all the usual routes, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit, Flickr, Photobucket, Newspapers and couldn’t find anything, Hadn’t even heard of this until now so you’ve certainly got me curious. Hopefully something surfaces one day. Newspapers do mention him getting airborne for about 75 feet though.

I know you do a lot of MRN videos, is that where you heard this?

Yes that's exactly where I heard it. I decided to listen to that race recently and was pretty shocked to hear about him getting air and they made a pretty big deal about his airtime.

I did the same thing trying to find at least a grainy picture, but I came up empty. Other than the articles describing him becoming airborne, of course.

Can you help me here?

This is the correct race, right? How did he manage to finish in 13th?

That is correct. He didn't flip, but he was able to keep it up to speed for the most part.

My mistake, sorry. I assumed the car would have been damaged in such a case. Thank you!

This guy has photos of the race. Probably some of Parsons' near flip as well?

https://www.kkraceshots.com/ Possibly he has some as well? Or knows someone who knows someone? Professional photographers often have good connections to other photographers. I think it's worth a try.

You should definitely post the audio, I'm sure it would be interesting!

Alright. I'll have it uploaded in about an hour or less!
