Yeah, I think so too. Dovizioso is basically Pedrosa 2.0, a soft-spoken good guy who doesn't crash often but just doesn't have the "it" factor for the big class. He couldn't beat out Marquez for years even when Honda struggled with acceleration out of corners and can't cut it out in a season when Marquez is out. The excuses have ended and there's a bunch of young guys who can flash some speed. The dinosaurs are going away, Dovizioso and Crutchlow are no longer needed. There's only Rossi left as pure window dressing but nobody can take him seriously as a contender anymore.2020 banter & Silly season thread for MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3

Ducati is having a horrid season with the new rear tyre. Would have been nice to see Dovi win a championship, but in the end, he didn't have the speed to get around Marquez.

Marquez wont be returning this year. *Confirmed by Honda*
There was much rumour suggesting Marquez would be returning for perhaps the last two races of the year. Honda have today confirmed Bradl will be running for the rest of the year and Marquez, in conjunction with Honda, his team and multiple expert doctors, has elected to officially delay his return to action until 2021. They have collectively decided not to take any risks as he continues his rehabilitation, and he has officially switched his focus to the 2021 season.

The right move for him. What's the point? Stay home, stay safe from COVID, ride motocross bikes.

My thoughts exactly. Nothing to gain, plenty to go wrong.DoubleFart wrote: ↑3 years ago The right move for him. What's the point? Stay home, stay safe from COVID, ride motocross bikes.

Meanwhile, Andrea Iannone won't be back either. Probably for good. Banned through 2023.

Damn shame. He was a fun rider to watch. He brought it on himself though, so no pity from me.

Rossi tests Covid positive again.....
Rossi , who had to post two negative tests prior to being allowed to run last weekend, had a routine test on Tuesday that returned another positive result. However another test earlier today returned a negative. Apparently this can happen with those who have been infected with Covid. Anyway, he will undergo another test, the result of which will determine if he can race this weekend.
Should he return another positive, from what I hear Gerloff, who was an impressive P1 and P2 stand in for Rossi last weekend, will not be called into action. The bike will just be parked for the weekend.
Presumably Yamaha are backing the fact that Rossi's Tuesday test result was a false positive and banking on him being negative again on todays test. Either that or their woeful reliability and slipping constructors championship form means they have given up based on Suzuki's recent surge of dominance.

Not so fast?
bit of confusion of what is going on. Gerloff WON'T stand in in any case.

So, correction from Yamaha says first test was not positive, so presumably that means. it was negative..... so why the need for a second test and then a third? Maybe it is just a PC way of saying the Tuesday Positive that Yamaha now say was not, has now proved to be a false positive.
Regardless, Rossi must be getting pissed off with sitting in a Motorhome in isolation!

Drama! One false positive, any positive test need two negative tests to be cleared to ride.

Well hopefully this weekend, after all this hullabaloo, Rossi can get more than 5 laps of racing before the bike packs up

Morbidelli pole..... Mir 12th.
Petronas SRT's Franco Morbidelli snatched MotoGP Valencia Grand Prix pole in tricky conditions, with Jack Miller 2nd and Nakagami 3rd.....as championship leader Joan Mir could only manage 12th behind Fabio Quartararo, with Alex Rins 14th.
Marquez suffered a huge highside in the opening stages of Q1 at Turn 11 and landed heavily on his backside - though still managed to return to the circuit on his second bike late on.

Good for Mir that Quart and Rins and Dovi all where nowhere too today.

Mir only needs two 9th place finishes to clinch the title. It's more than probable if he simply doesn't crash out.
However starting down in 12th might lead to some first lap drama. Good thing Zarco is so far ahead of him
