Any word on the driver of the car, or the cause of the accident?
Investigation ongoing
It must be said that there has been a lot of fuss in italy regarding this type of accident. Recently the riad manslaughter law was approved. But this kind of accident has been kept into public eye since some tragic events occurred, such as a revenge murder by the husband of the victim against the alleged killer, who had not been yet condemned in the trial. Such events explain the low profile kept by investigation
My friend Earl Hayden is facing his own medical issues at home in Kentucky and is unable to travel while his son, 2006 MotoGP World Champion Nicky Hayden, lies in a hospital in Italy, mother Rose Hayden and brother Tommy Hayden at his side.
I spoke to Earl this morning, and adding to the family's pain has been a cascade of FAKE NEWS posted all over the internet, including by alleged professional news organizations that should know better.
Earl told me the following:
The family HAS NOT issued a statement that Nicky is dead.
Nicky IS NOT dead, although he is on life support.
Nicky was riding his bicycle alone, NOT in a group of 14 riders.
Doctors DID NOT perform surgery on Nicky.
Nicky WAS NEVER in an induced coma.
Yes, people want to know what is happening with Nicky, a great motorcycle racer, person and humanitarian. But making things up or failing to do even the most basic due diligence or fact checking, and posting FAKE NEWS for commercial purposes?
Have the guilty news organizations even considered the effect their FAKE NEWS has on the family and friends and true fans of Nicky and his family?
To paraphrase a famous quote from the 1950s related to manufactured facts, "Have you no shame?"
The driver who hit nicky is reported to be in deep shock and desperate for the happening. He said that he was going to work and did not see nick who suddenly crossed from a yield road. The analysis cleared that he was not under the influence. Unfortunately the last bulletin do not add news to what was already released. Nicky is still in life support and not improving has occured. His conditions remaing extremely grave
Regarding John's post, "News" agencies have no respect or dignity nowdays, all they are interested in is how many clicks/reads an article gets, and frankly, anybody with internet access can set themselves up as a journalist nowdays.
I would be suprised if he hasn't been placed in a drug induced coma, it used to be the go to treatment method for head injuries, mainly because it stops the brain swelling, but more and more you hear of doctors being reluctant to do it, and rather take a suck it and see approach, think personally I'd rather be put in the coma, especially if it stops my brain swelling instead of the alternate.
I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.
If this is the case, you may click here to solve the problem, or alternatively here too.
Earl Hayden, Nicky's father has issued a statement that will hopefully stop some of the media whores who have been 'expanding on the truth' with their own fact lacking updates as to Nicky's condition.... (Earl Hayden is unfortunately unable to be with his son due to his own medical issues, but is in ongoing touch with his family currently at Nicky's bedside.)
Saturday May 21
03.10: Nicky Hayden’s father, Earl, has been unable to join his wife and son in Italy due to his own medical issues.
But he has been keeping up to date on Nicky’s condition from his home in Kentucky.
However, the ‘fake news’ online is reportedly adding to his pain.
Earl Hayden told Roadracing World the following:
- The family HAS NOT issued a statement that Nicky is dead.
- Nicky IS NOT dead, although he is on life support.
- Nicky was riding his bicycle alone, NOT in a group of 14 riders.
- Doctors DID NOT perform surgery on Nicky.
- Nicky WAS NEVER in an induced coma.

A security camera recording of a nearby house has been given to the police. The police said that it clarified the acident dynamic.
According to rumors it was hayden who didn t stop where he should have

That is certainly the point of view in the drivers statement from all accounts. Maybe Toni could translate this newspaper article relating to the matter, or the relevant parts. http://www.ilrestodelcarlino.it/rimini/ ... -1.3126709
In addition I found a map outlining the apparent area and alleged movements of the driver and Nicky.
At the end of the day, the priority for us as fans is that Nicky recovers from the consequences rather than apportioning any blame at this stage.

T s an older article which explains the first reconstruction if the impact between the peugeot and nicky who was coming from a secondary road and had to stop before passing
At the end there is a security camera footage which clarfies that hayden did not stop at the road. It will also give the investigator the possobility to calculate the speed of the car.
So very sad to read this.
He will be sorely missed by competitors and and fans worldwide. A champion and a gentleman
Thoughts and condolences with Nicky's Family and friends.
RIP The Kentucky Kid #69.
