Great news. How do you make the layouts? Do you use satellite imagery or something else?

I think Michkov can answer that. I don't know how to do that.

Pretty much yes, usually a screenshot from Google Maps or similar imported into Inkscape, together with a good layout from the web if available. Than its just some adjusting (or retracing the layout by hand) and trying to get the style consistent.ReneLotus wrote:Great news. How do you make the layouts? Updated one entry: I mistakenly had the wrong winning constructor in 2006.

Have a few difficulties with the html file of Barcelona. Want to add another circuit layout, but it is not very easy to change it without ruin the layout of the page.
Maybe i have to rebuild the html there.

I finally got to check out what you've done and it's excellent work guys. I'm fully behind you on this project.
I'm glad to see the COTA map is exactly the same design as all other trackmaps, so it fits in perfectly I take it you are still working on the different COTA layouts, as all three versions show the same trackmap?

It would be cool to have the three layout versions. Rather i have all the modern versions than only one when they are available. But it is up to Michkov.

Rebuilding the Barcelona page.
Working on a new but simple way to build up new pages with <table>- <tr>- and </td> tags. The new tracks have to get a new page and i just want to prevent that i first have to figure out how an older page, which i copy to add changes, is build up.

Thanks, I tried to get as close as possible to the existing style. COTA is my second prototype if you want to call it that, the new Barcelona layout is the first one so it looks a bit crappy I need to redo that in the next days.PTRACER wrote:I finally got to check out what you've done and it's excellent work guys. Good thing is that I have the layouts in a vector format so once done it is scalable and easy to change the colors should we ever want to change to website design.
Alternative COTA layouts are done and with Erwin as is Singapore (Marina Bay) and Baku.
I agree, adding pictures to the webpage is a quick edit, so for the tracks and layouts we dont have yet put in a placeholder and add it once I get along to the track.erwin greven wrote:It would be cool to have the three layout versions. Speaking of placeholders, for Singapore can you build in a link to an overview map similar to this one
http://www.the-fastlane.co.uk/racingcir ... tions.html
Once I get done with the missing tracks I plan on making one for Thomson Road and Marina Bay.

I hope to finish Barcelona tomorrow.
Originally the Barcelona page had 8 entries.
Now it has 10. The new entries are the F1 circuit since 2007, when the new chicane was added and the Moto GP version which does not use that chicane.

Started with Interlagos today, pitlane entry and exit change in the 2014 rebuild, but I figured while I'm at it I might as well upscale the full set of layouts.
Which brings me here, apart from the long and short F1 layout what else has been used over the years?

For F1 only those two layouts were used. Or do you mean all F1 layouts since 2005?

Four layouts actually. F1 used the chicane on the back straight until 1995. In 1994 they made a chicane out of a tyre wall and put it between the right/left at Nissan.
