With an hour thirty to go, it looks like there is the potential for an amazing finish. The BMW M4 that has easily been the fastest car over the weekend (its fastest lap in the race has been a second quicker then the next car) had some issues about three and a half hours ago and lost three laps as a result. Now, they've got back on the lead lap thanks to a littany of safety cars and are now within 45 seconds of the leader, so with some pace cars (quite possible) they could well get much closer to the leaders by the end of the race.

They're in the garage for another problem again, so I guess that's it.

Big fire for Craig Baird with 20 minutes to go. Another SC.

It was an interesting finish, the race restarted with only 10 minutes to go and Searle only took the lead with about 5 to go, I think due to Mostert having some car problems.

Yeah I think I heard mention of a transmission problem when he was dicing hard. It could have been referring to someone else though. At first I thought it might have been fuel conservation.theracer120 wrote: Searle only took the lead with about 5 to go, I think due to Mostert having some car problems.
Paul Morris gets the Bathurst 'Triple Crown', the first driver to do so.... a win in each of the 6 hour, 12 hour and 1000klms races.

It was a bit slow at the start with the first two or three hours having so many SC's (32 of the first 53 laps.)
But it evolved into a good race with a cracking finish.

Confirmed it was a transmission fault, the car losing gears in the final run. Mostert admitted it was probably driver abuse rather than a mechnical issue....Everso Biggyballies wrote:Yeah I think I heard mention of a transmission problem when he was dicing hard.theracer120 wrote: Searle only took the lead with about 5 to go, I think due to Mostert having some car problems.
Mostert explained that gearbox problems plagued his run home.
“We dropped fifth and sixth gear, but that’s not a mechanical, I think that’s a bit more of driver abuse,” admitted the Ford star.
“We were getting pushed pretty hard there for that whole last stint from Luke and I’m going to put my hand up for that one; I think I was a bit harsh on the old production car box!”

Somehow cool! Instead of those sequential gearboxes, simply abusing the good ol' gearbox.

Another round of the V8 Supercars is coming up this weekend, this time it's the round at Phillip Island which will be comprised of two 250km races just like at Adelaide and Newcastle. It will also be the first ever time that all three championships running V8 Supercars will be present at the same race meeting (the main game, the Super2 series and the Kumho V8 Touring Cars.) I think it may also be the last ever hit out of the V8 Utes, judging by the supplementary regs (the new Utes aren't supposed to appear till Townsville.)

P1 has just been on for the VASC's and the big news was Craig Lowndes had a major off at high speed into the tyre walls when his front right tyre blew on entry to the Flat out left hand Hayshed. The car seemed to skip over the wet gravel trap before hitting and spinning along the tyre wall. Craig was unhurt but the car is going to need an awful lot of work to be ready for P2 later on.theracer120 wrote:Another round of the V8 Supercars is coming up this weekend, this time it's the round at Phillip Island which will be comprised of two 250km races just like at Adelaide and Newcastle.
Weather is damp but will be getting wetter over the weekend according to forecasts.
Dave Reynolds was fastest in P1 in his Erebus Commodore, ahead of SVG, Todd Kelly (Nissan) and a back in action (following his major crash and hospitalisation in Tassie) in his Tekno Holden.
