Bottom post of the previous page:

Typical Irish music, but I guess the epicness is in the lyrics.

This isn't really rock, is it, just because it has an electric guitar? Have I posted it before? It is epic though.

Not epic, but I do like. Wasn't this the first Beatles song Ringo wrote/sung or something?

'Act Naturally' was not written by the Beatles but was a cover of a song written a couple of years earlier by someone whose name I forget, but was sung by Buck Owens as a Country song (It went #1 in the US Country charts I think.)

It would certainly be ONE of the earlier Ringo vocals for the Beatles when he sung it in 1965, but it was not the first. It was Ringo's song, included on the Help album as a replacement for another rejected Ringo song (he always seemed to have at least one vocal song per album. Later in projects such as Yellow Submarine he sung a few more than normal, but as mentioned that was later.)

I think the first album with a Ringo Song might have been in Please Please Me, recorded in early 1963, the year after Ringo joined the band. On that album he sung 'Boys', another cover song (ie not Lennon McCartney). The same year, on 'With The Beatles' Ringo sang 'I Wanna Be Your Man', written by John and Paul and recorded by the Rolling Stones a couple of years prior in 1963.

Ringo always fancied himself as an actor, and he had a leading part in the Act Naturally movie.

Here is a clip of the Beatles performing 'Boys' live on stage

I love Help! .. Possibly my favourite Beatles album, its a close call with Hard Days Night.

Edit: Feel free to shout me down because I didn't say the White Album or Sgt. Pepper. As whole albums they don't compare.

Jon English was a top-class showman.

Saw this and when they did The Mikado and H.M.S. Pinafore. But this was the best part.

Much fun.
