Yeah, in fairness I just really hate disco music. You Win Again and their Aberfan tribute song were both superb.

I was/am not a disco fan either(also 'can't say I hate it), but somehow I could/can handle some when it's the Brothers Gibb.
Prolly just my bias to-wards them.... :)

That's absolutely correct! Your turn ;-)

The photo is from 1972. Probably just shortly after the bridge was built. Maybe @Manfred Cubenoggin knows more?

Bah.

THIS.......is THE bridge.......at Bridgehampton.

Then.....a 2.85 mile/4.6 km.....world class circuit*: :).............(*but zero facilities.... :dunno: )
Image
The bridge, a few yards/meters before the road actually drops off beneath you, at the end of a 5/8 mile/1 km straight.
It looks like the end of the earth :jaw: all the way down the straight as all you see is the horizon...the tops of trees, and sky...under it..... :omg:
Then flat (later Can Am cars were pushin' 200 mph; best know your turn-in or you're going for a ride) into and through the downhill righthander.......the 'Seca corkscrew ain't nuttin'...... ;)

Exhilarating. :twothumbs:

Now.....just another golf course:  & :sorrow:

I'll pass on the opportunity to post a pix, fellas. Thanks anyway.

A Formula Ford competitor got airborne and hit that bridge at Mosport way, way back. Survived but suffered brain damage as I recall. Know idea whom it was.

John (aka Jackie?) Fairbairn. The accident happened around 1973

Nothing to do with the question other than an onboard lap of Mosport from the mid 70s with Niki Lauda in a Ferrari

That's cool, rare footage, thanks! Mosport looks basically the same now.

I have mentioned it before, but I once searched through some old Canadian TV archives and it appears that most of the 1970s Canadian GP are on analogue tape in an archive somewhere. I have seen some very short snippets, including when Hunt crashed with his team mate at the hairpin and punched a marshal.

Hehehe I just watcged a prog about team mate wars on TV..... it was mainly about footballers and other sports but did have a section on F1, focusing on Lewis and Fernando, but it highlighted other team mate issues like Piquet and Mansell which we know plenty about. It did also refer to James Hunt and Jochen Mass, who I know James had a Canadian moment with, but never knew it was an ongoing issue.

This is really tough. I guess it could be a Reynard or Lola Indycar, around 1996/8-ish. I wouldn't say it is any earlier than that, because there is a .com website written on the car's front wing. Wherever that is does not look like a proper circuit...unless it is some kind of test/non-race layout like the Patriot course at VIR.

No fun if it's easy ;).

But not bad, PT!

It is indeed from a test session, in that timeframe. It is a permanent circuit...

I might need a clue.

I'm trying to use the guy's mullet to decide whether it is in America or Australia and I'm struggling.
