For me Silverstone was butchered from 1994 onward. For a lot of people it was butchered the time the Woodcote chicane was first installed. I get Paul's point on Spa. While the circuit is almost untouched the swaths of tarmac run-off have taken away it's soul.Which butchered circuit do you miss the most?

For me, Silverstone was butchered after they got rid of Bridge corner in the most recent reconfiguration. From Bridge to Priory was the most exhilarating part of the track for me. Trulli's accident there in 2004 showed how high the consequences were for getting it wrong. Now, it's just a no-identity flat section that looks like any other part of the track.
And you need a few corners like that. Where all but the greatest drivers pretty much resign themselves to driving it at 9/10 or else crash like Trulli. Pre-2005 130R at Suzuka was another like that, but they made it lame after the MotoGP fatality there. Same of course, goes for bends like Pouhon at Spa, thanks to the asphalt runoff instead of gravel.

I got to race on that layout just before they closed it. Honestly, coming out of the Abbey Chicane, down the little hill under the bridge, it was such an amazing view.SB83 wrote: ↑4 years ago For me, Silverstone was butchered after they got rid of Bridge corner in the most recent reconfiguration. Silverstone was already butchered before. When they build in the Woodcote (Scheckter)-chicane in 1974.
But even today i like the modern layout of Silverstone. The only track i still can not stand is the modern Hockenheim.

Hockenheim and Assen !
I dislike Hockenheim so much that I never returned to it since its rebuilt into Penisdrome.
And Assen .... I really enjoyed the first section before the circuit was rebuild and shortened in order 'to get more laps so that the spectator would see the vehicles more often' bullshit.
Spa as well but there everything iconic as well as challengable has been made into gigantic parking lots instead of ruining the circuits shape entirely

I already mentioned Hockenheim. Would also add Brno, Assen (7,7km layout was magnificent) and to some extent: Interlagos. The first two banked corners. The fast sweepers...

130R had been revised prior to Daijiro Katos fatal accident at the motorcycle chicane way on from 130R, in 2003. However, the FIM demanded more changes, handed the MotoGP round to Motegi in 2004 and from 2005 when revisions did finish, never did returnSB83 wrote: ↑4 years ago ....

I'm always surprised to see people mourn the old Hockenheim track, considering it was totally boring. But Interlagos is a good call, that was magnificent in ist old 8k configuration!

Boring for who? Not for me. It was the last true flat out, slip streaming circuit on the calendar.Michael Ferner wrote: ↑4 years ago I'm always surprised to see people mourn the old Hockenheim track, considering it was totally boring. Boring for drivers and spectators. Nobody liked it in my time. Guess things have changed, when even a borodrome is mourned - you guys don't even know what you've missed out on!

Is it really that bad? It doesn't look bad, compared to, say, Silverstone.
