Bottom post of the previous page:

It seems the lineups to the Pirtek Enduro Cup is now close to finalised. Bathurst in October is the first round of that.

Brad Jones Racing is the latest team to announce its line-up following confirmation Dean Canto will join Macauley Jones.

The announcement also confirmed Ash Walsh and Tim Blanchard as co-drivers for Tim Slade and Nick Percat respectively.

It leaves only Tickford Racing, Tekno Autosports and Matt Stone Racing yet to officially lock in its enduro drivers.

It is widely expected Super2 driver Thomas Randle will fill the seat alongside Lee Holdsworth in the #5 Bottle-O Ford Mustang.

Jonathon Webb is likely to continue as co-driver after partnering Jack Le Brocq at Tekno Autosports last season.

Caruso again replaces Stanaway at GRM Boost Mobile for Ipswich next weekend.

Talking of Richie Stanaway for the the next round of the sprint championship at Ipswich (Queensland International Raceway) next weekend (July 26-28.) , Garry Rogers Motorsport has recalled Michael Caruso to stand in for the apparently still injured Richie Stanaway . Caruso stood in at the last round, achieving GRMs best result of the year, a 9th, and impressing the team with his technical feedback experience and input into the weekend.

I get the feeling that GRM are more than happy to continue with Caruso instead of Stanaway, the protege of sponsor Boost Mobile, and the driver who Boost insisted was part of the team, resulting in the axing of the still in contract one time Champion and Bathurst winner Garth Tander pre season.
“A little bit of consistency will help,”
“Caruso did a very good job in ordinary conditions at Townsville and the fact we could get him again will help him as it gets him more mileage ahead of the enduros and also it should help us make a bit of headway too.”
(Caruso is already contracted to co drive the Monster Mustang of Cam Waters for the enduros)

The team is yet to make a call regarding its line-up beyond Queensland Raceway and 'remains hopeful' Stanaway can return in the near future.

“We have got the documents from the doctor saying what is wrong with him (Stanaway) but have we got a cure date? We have not,” said Rogers.
“We will wait and see what happens. We just hope Richie’s health is good enough but if it is not we will need make the next decision.”
Stanaway is continuing to recover from a re-emergence of a neck injury that stems from a heavy crash suffered in Formula Renault 3.5 single seater in 2012.

Further to my post a couple up the page re Enduro drivers, Super2 driver Jack Smith will partner Todd Hazelwood at Matt Stone Racing in this year’s Pirtek Enduro Cup.

The 20-year-old joins the Queensland squad for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000, Vodafone Gold Coast 600 and Penrite Oil Sandown 500 events after making his Supercars debut as a wildcard this season.

Quite surprised to read that of all this years V8SC drivers 17 are out of contract at years end.... Could we see a big shake up? Will it be a silly 'silly season'?

Only drivers locked in with confirmed drives in place for next year currently are :

JW and SVG for T888RBR
Scott and Fabian at DJRTP
Will Davison at Tickford
Rick Kelly at Kelly Racing
Mark Winterbottom at Irwin.

Add to the list of confirmed for 2020 drivers Anton de Pasquale will continue with Penrite Erebus for at least next year.

David Reynolds has indicated he will stay with Penrite Erebus also but as yet no contract is in place.

Scott McLaughlin and Will Davison have finished first and second respectively for the second Supercars Championship practice session in a row, although Scotty was 0.4 quicker in P2 than P1. They were the only two to get into the eights.

Both DJR Team Penske entries, both Triple Eight Racing Engineering entries, both Erebus Motorsport entries, and three of the four Tickford/23Red entries made the top 10 that gains passage direct to Q2 in tomorrows qualy.

Todd Hazlewood did well to finish 4th faster than both Red Bulls and one DJRTP car

P3 was again topped by Scotty Mac, with Reynolds second. Will Davison continued his weekend form to finish 3rd.

Qualy (its a Q1,Q2, Q3 knockout format this weekend) is about to start. The ten names in P2 listed in the previous post skip Q1 and go straight to Q2. The top 4 finishers in Q1 join the 10 pre qualifiers in Q2. Then Q3 is the fastest ten in Q2.
A lot of talk about camber in pitlane due to the new parc ferme rules which dont allow adjustments between qualy and the first race.... the more negative camber gives a greater one lap speed but the downside is in race trim it hurts the tyres.... and QIR is hard on tyres with its number of longer corners. Some will go out early to set a flyer and then adjust the camber out in the last few minutes of qualy but that has its own risks.

My money is on a Scotty Mac pole again (He now has I think a dozen this year) but Reynolds might give him some curry.

Another pole for Scotty.... DJRs 100th pole position in fact, and Scott's 12th this year. The challenge I saw coming from Reynolds did not happen though... I suspect he was running a more conservative race setup re the parc ferme 'dont touch' rules. Whincup takes the other front row spot, with Davison taking third and Holdsworth 4th from SVG.

Should be a good run to turn 1 in the race with Whincup promising to race tough.

Race 1 starts 16.15 AEST

Great start from Whincup, side by side through T1 with Scott before JW got ahead. Davo then gave Scott a nudge taking 2nd from Scott.

Now at 3/4 distance and Scott who pitted early is suffering with tyres as Will Davison who stopped very late has just passed him for second. Mostert also closing on Scott.
