Gio and Gasly: Who's been the worst and who will get sacked first? UPDATE: GASLY IS TOAST!

#1

Post by John »

After the hallelujah-moment fourth place at Bahrain last year, which I kind of get the feeling was the sole reason for signing Gasly to the RBR seat (that, and the fact that there was no one else to fill the seat), he's been nothing short of awful this year. He's even having a hard time beating the cars in the Formula 1.5 class.

The only thing saving him at the moment is the fact that RBR still doesn't have anyone to replace him with, unless they decide to bring back Kvyat, which I would find absolutely hilarious.

And Gio have been atrocious this year as well. 0 points to his credit as we near the halfway point in the season and he can't find race pace to save his life. The other rookies have acclimatized far better to F1, Norris is doing well for himself, Russell is doing a good job in that dumpster fire Williams and Albon have, I think we can all agree, been the biggest surprise of the season so far.

Is it time to sack Gio? Granted he's up against the world's fastest octogenarian in the team, but so far he's underdelivered on every front so far. Not to forget he has previous F1 experience as well through two races and Friday testing sessions.

So, should both of them be axed this summer? Who's been worst so far?

Gio is a rookie and shown some good progression but suffered some bad luck. He doesn’t deserve the sack.

Gasly has been a disappointment and his appointment at Red Bull should be in question. Especially when you consider Kvyat was demoted for far less.

Badly has been a huge disappointment.... RBR would be better off with Kvyat or Albon and do it soon

Promote Albon. Demote Gasly and sack Gio. Gio was awful as a sub and more so as a driver. There are others who could fit the bill. They just need to look.

Gasly's performance has been appalling. Gio was a victim of a lot of misfortune. He had a lot of grid penalties so had to start further back. He wasn't doing that badly today before he pitted.

Maybe it's time for Redbull to bring about some Sebastians back in the fray. Seabass anyone?

Pah! If you wanna bring back JEV, then Buemi and Bourdais deserve second chances too!

I suspect Albon would struggle at RBR as much as Gasly does. Let's get real, Kvyat getting podiums in the #2 RBR is the best we've seen outside of the Vettel/Ricciardo tandem and he got fired from STR in first place!

Gasly has been worse than Gio because the expectations were higher for him. Hell, Leclerc gives Vettel more problems than Gasly gives Verstappen.

They could stage a run-off. Everyone gets a turn and the fastest gets a drive! :haha:

Poor giovi. He had a lot of technical issues and bad luck. He showed really good speed in qualifying. I hope that when he will find race pace the car will support him. The alfa showed worring lack of speed and involution.
Gasly is the driver who disappointed more than everyone. Not really for the results but for the huge gaps he gets from verstappen
