acerogers58 wrote: 5 years ago Also I’d like to help out with this project, I’ve already uploaded some stuff on the forums and I’d love to contribute it to the database, mainly nascar stuff but I can do some other types too.
Having another contributor would be great. Do you have a suggestion for a project? Or perhaps @DaleJuniorFan could advise? (Perhaps PM me to discuss)

Not sure where the right place to put this is but would be useful to be able to search for crashes that include a link/video through the advanced search.

Incorrectly lists Matt Kenseth instead of Ryan Newman, who is driving car #6 as of this season.

Parnelli Jones, 1965 Indy 500 practice. The date was May 20. It says 19 in the entry:

Yes.
I think I made the first entry, but it must've been in 2016.

These are two different crashes. Note the position of the car number. The first four belong together, as do the last 4. I have found a wreck pic of the last one, which I'm posting in openwheel crash photos. Muther must have had 2 accidents.

Mainwaring's name was actually Manwaring: http://www.motorsportmemorial.org/focus.php?db=ct&n=281

Nanni informed me the other day, and sent a pic that's already in the CPdB.

Schultze's Monza fire was in 1968, not 1965. I posted the original pics, so I provided the wrong year, but it was included in the description where I found and cropped the photos. Sorry about the mistake, it was one of the "inherited" ones.

Everyone is doing a fantastic job here, but can we please make sure that - if an unknown crash photo is identified, that we update the related thread on the forum BEFORE uploading the photo to the CPdB? Thanks!

Will make the above changes, thanks Jesper.

Shall we differ between East Germany, West Germany and Germany?
Because adding the same track (e.g. Sachsenring, Schleizer Dreieck) for two different countries leads to the following error:
Circuit Field should not contain a duplicate value

There are several tracks that share the same name even though they're in different countires, e.g. Westmead (Australia/South Africa)

Duplicate track names isn't a problem I had ever thought about to be honest. Since changing the database structure would be impossible now with nearly 5000 entries, there are two (probable) options:

1. Remove this "duplicate name" restriction (not my favourite option since I must have put the setting in for a good reason)

2. Give the other circuit a slightly different name. "Westmead (2)" or "Westmead (AUS)" or "Westmead Speedway/Raceway" (whatever the official full title might be).

It shouldn't occur THAT many times to be a problem, but let's decide now which type we choose, since I want to be consistent.

As for differentiating between East and West Germany - I personally think we should stick with the modern, accepted country names. Borders move, country names change, but I don't think the database should reflect that.

I was thinking about this one as well.
A "Westmead (Australia)" and a "Westmead (South Africa)" should be enough.

Yup, sounds good. The only "problem" that will cause is it will say "Australia - Westmead (Australia)", but that's not a huge issue I suppose.

n.B. Westmead in SAF (home of the Natal GP) is just called Westmead. The one in Australia is called Westmead Speedway.
