West German hillclimber Udo Hoffmann suffered serious accident during 1971 Klingenring-Bergrennen when his Opel Manta A left the road and crashed into tree. Hoffmann died from injuries some days later. As result, hillclimb was cancelled for next year.
No date of accident and death and driver's name found only in Wikipedia article.

Hoffmann's last race according to touringcarracing.net was the 1971 Eifelpokalrennen, held on Oct 5th 1971, where he competed in his Opel Manta. http://touringcarracing.net/Races/1971% ... %20km.html
As stated in the Wikipedia article, the Bergpreis zu Solingen/Klingenring-Bergrennen was always held on the second or third weekend in October which at least could lead us to the assumption that Hoffmann indeed died following the competition.
I'll see if I can order a copy of the book. Will stay on it. Promised.
I think that happened during track day so he wouldn't be eligible to MM.org.
Fyi: Ordered the book and payed for it but it never arrived. I'm in contact with the seller (and author) to see if I can figure out where it disappeared.hollie3sa wrote: ↑4 years agoI have not been able to find further informations.Sedre wrote: ↑5 years ago @hollie3sa

Web may be a little slow, took a while to show.
It's a fatal 2014-accident from Mexico. 5 pics, aftermath. Looks like stock cars, some collided, and I assume the driver of #7 was killed.
Name: Concepción Fernández "El Concho" Hernández, 36 years old.En un tercer percance, la unidad con el número 7 quedó completamente destrozada y el conductor Concepción Fernández Hernández de 36 años de edad a quien identificaban como El Concho, del equipo Romofer, perdió la vida.
Circuito Alfonso Soler, or Circuito al Valle de Huamantla, not sure. Name of event 44. Carrera de Carcachas?
I think it also says there were several other accidents.
Help out with this, please, I can't read Spanish at all well.

A German Opel trader supported several young drivers. E.g. he allowed them to work in his garage after closing time. One of these drivers was Udo Hoffmann. Apparently Hoffmann was very unhappy with the performance of his car after a practice run (Saturday) in 1971. So he decided to work on his car in a "cloak-and-dagger operation" and change its differential. Not having tested the car, Hoffmann started into his first run with the new differential. In the first left hander, which was normally taken at full speed, Hoffmann who didn't know the track all too well, decided to lift the gas which apparently led to the differential blocking his rear tires of his rear wheel driven Opel Manta. Hoffmann crashed into the armco on the right side of the track. His car veered across the track, up an embankment and into the sole tree that was standing next to the road.Sedre wrote: ↑5 years ago @hollie3sa
