Friday Practice is on! So the times are set and the Sandbags are off! Glad to see not much has changed with the Mercedes. With the only exception being they did a better job of masking their pace in testing. Are our times fast enough? All to play out tomorrow!

I feel very confident that I have no chance of winning this round.

The results are in! Mercedes improved by a large margin between winter testing and Australia Qualifications. A quick analysis of their car in winter testing spec clearly shows how they were able to do it. It was all about the removal of some key Aero bits.

This week's winner is Kai Star with a time 0.072 seconds away from Lewis Hamilton's pole time of 1:20.486! Great job seeing through the winter testing times!

The full results are below:

Code: Select all

Pts	Error	Guess	Player
10	00.072	1:20.558	KaiStar
6	00.236	1:20.250	John
4	00.291	1:20.777	Picci
3	00.366	1:20.120	MonteCristo
2	00.501	1:20.987	TomDA
1	00.665	1:19.821	Ian-S
0	00.764	1:21.250	xcraigx
0	00.802	1:21.288	Megallos
0	01.056	1:21.542	Kals
0	01.614	1:22.100	ErwinGreven
===============================================================================
The points and accuracy standings are exactly as this week's results (as they are for the first race every year!).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If the Ferrari had been the fastest car (as the winter times predicted), I would have taken this round with a Vettel pole time of 1:21.190. But I was fooled like so many others.

I'm interested to see if any of the other teams can pull a surprise in the race like Ferrari did last year. And how competitive is the Alfa? It was placed in or just out of the top 5 in Q1 and Q2 and I expected much higher than 9th for Kimi in Q3. Can he bring some magic tomorrow?

The GP of Bahrain will be in 2 weeks, so please come back to look for a new thread next week!

Unreal! Same as last though, and it was a slippery slope down from there.

A better start than last year.

One round in and I've already scraped together the same amount of points that I got from Australia - Monaco last year.

I'm gunning for glory this year.
