Yeah, I got that vibe as well. If it had been less black and grey it might have turned out neat. I liked Foggys bike.

I see Bradley Ray is being given a few laps on the Suzuki at the upcoming Sepang test. I’m interested to see how he adapts to MotoGP machinery, hopefully it won’t be a one off outing.

In other news, ex-MotoGP team owner Paul Bird has been banned from rallying for drug related issues. He was banned previously for failing a doping test, then on his return he refused to take another test and has been subsequently banned for multiple years.

Street racing from 2021
Autosport.com wrote:Indonesia has signed a three-year deal to host a MotoGP street race starting from 2021.

Plans to construct an all-new venue in the Mandalika area of the island of Lombok, with the aim of hosting MotoGP, were originally reported by Autosport in November.

A final deal has now been reached between the state-owned Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation and MotoGP promoter Dorna.

The new track will host MotoGP events between 2021 and '23.

Abdulbar M Mansoer, president director of the IDTC, confirmed to Autosport that the contract was signed on January 21 in Madrid.

Abdullar said the design of the circuit, which is likely to be a 4.32-kilometre layout featuring 18 corners, has already been approved by FIM Safety Officer Franco Uncini.

"The street circuit will be built from zero, unlike the tracks in Singapore and Monaco," he said.

"When it is not being raced on, it will be used as a regular highway in the area.

"We estimate a fast construction process for the circuit, as we only need to build roads and paddocks."

The project will be carried out by French company Vinci Construction, which is set to begin paving the surface for the track in September of this year.

An option to extend the deal past its initial three-year duration exists in the contract, according to Abdullar.

The race, which is set to be MotoGP's first-ever street circuit event, will allow the championship to finally break into one of the world's largest markets for motorcycles.

The calendar currently comprises 19 events but, with Finnish venue KymiRing expected to join in 2020, the Indonesia race could take the MotoGP schedule past the 20-race mark.

Sounds bonkers. If I want to see riders smashing into concrete barriers and light poles I'd watch Macau or IoM. But I suppose that Uncini has signed off on a circuit safe enough for MotoGP.

2019 season gets underway this weekend! Who's excited? I certainly am. I'd quietly assumed MotoGP will get underway after F1 and was pleasantly surprised to learn it's the other way around. :)

Suzuki ain't exactly unknown for one off test rides. Michael Dunlop would be an example here.

Bullshit. I and those who know watch Macau or the IoM FOR the racing instead of its tragedies. What can be argued though are the entirely different circumstances as opposed to the common short circuits.
What annoys my intelligence with the Indonesia 'street circuit' though is much to the fact that damn fine circuits such as Spa, Monza and Suzuka (you can spin it further or earlier: IoM TT, Ulster GP) had been abandoned on safety grounds but MotoGP claims the street circuit safe enough. In a time by the way, where the FIM refuses to hand out international licenses for meetings such as the Southern 100.

And that's all well enough. But it's not for me, it's not something I'm interested in. I think it, like you say, it's absolute madness to approve a street circuit in MotoGP when those places you named were dropped on safety grounds. That said I might have to revisit my opinion once we see the actual circuit. They might make it work. They're not going to send Marquez out on a dangerous circuit and put their hen laying golden eggs in harms way.

I got all of Sunday blocked off. First the three Moto races and then Indycar at St. Pete's.

Im off to Phillip Island Friday Saturday and Sunday for the big Historic meeting, so will just about get back for the start of the main race, Sunday night here. if I can stay awake. I probably will miss the Indycar race after that though. Have to record it and watch later, on Monday.
