Bottom post of the previous page:

Imagine the McLaren is promising, could we see a repeat of 1993? - where Senna basically sidelined Mika from the scheduled line-up due because the McLaren turned out much better than he feared.
This time of course with Alonso sidelining, I would imagine, Norris.

What’s funny is that someone appears to believe McLare could be somewhat competent enough to build a good car and a good enough car to again massage the ego of a Spaniard some more.

Lol I used to like the tongue in cheek reporting on WTF1 but nowadays it’s sensationalism is predicatable and boring.

To suggest Dennis pulled “a power move” completely ignores what actually happened, considering shortly after Dennis and McLaren agreed to pay Ayrton $1m per race on a race by race agreement. What “a power move”

Are they also the "that's Raiddillon actually" guys? Funny once or twice, but the way in which it took off... jeez.

Williams car may not be ready for early testing

Not good news from Grove as Williams try to get over last years disaster. Their car might not be ready for the start of winter testing next week. Williams has confirmed it has abandoned plans to give its 2019 Formula 1 car a shakedown in Spain this weekend prior to testing.
Williams' 2019 car might be delayed, according to Polish media sources.

Sport.pl, which is closely tracking Robert Kubica's return to F1, claims the dead-last-in-2018 British team might need to cancel a scheduled filming day on Saturday.

The report quoted an FIA-accredited engineer as saying: "I do not have good news.

"Williams is very late with the construction of the car."

Renault also may be in trouble.... Cyril Abiteboul saying at the launch, which featured a 2018 car with a few mods, that the 2019 machine is still "in pieces". Mind you having said that, if the parts are all available and go together correctly, the actual assembly time is minimal when you look at the speed cars are re-tubbed and re-assembled overnight at GPs. They are being non committal over being ready for their planned shakedown run on Saturday in Spain. Shakedown tests are when the team use their permitted pre testing 'filming day' as a shakedown. As Merc did as Silverstone earlier today.

Of course, they could be bluffing, using the 2018 car with updated bits, and the story of bits all over the place could just be Renault doesn't want to reveal its secrets just yet. They have said they have never made so many changes from one year to the next.

Official winter testing begins in Barcelona on Monday. I guess that is when we will know who is ready with their new cars and who is not. Of course the usual story over testing is that as each day passes each team has new bits arrive and get tried. No one ever turns up at testing with the car we ultimately see at Albert Park.

Re previous post regarding the lateness of some cars being ready for testing, three teams are said to be struggling.

Renault have a planned 'filming day tomorrow (Saturday) scheduled but are touch and go to make it with a finished car.
They have promised they will be there on Monday, but 'the coffee machine will be on'. (Does that imply an allnighter on Sunday to be ready, or am I making that up?)

Renault Haas a

Williams have already cancelled their proposed shakedown scheduled tomorrow.

Racing Point's participation on the opening day of Barcelona testing is also in doubt.

"We will be there," technical boss Andy Green said. "But we do not guarantee that we will be on the track on Monday. Our preparation is far from over."

Apparently the lateness of some teams is due to the aero changes and there not being enough hours in the day for all the wind tunnel testing being needed.

Ferrari have been quiet on the shakedown front, and Sauber had their shakedown at Fiorano .... Mercedes Red Bull and Toro Rosso have all already had their shakedown tests in their 2019 cars.

Oh, McLaren have confirmed that although Alonso might attend at Catalunya, it is not part of the plan for him to test.... although Zak Brown did confirm that Alonso could be referred to as their 'de-facto' reserve driver

"Fernando is still part of the team with our Indy 500 project," Brown insisted to Europa Press at the launch of McLaren's new car.

"I think it's likely that we will not announce a reserve driver, but I think there are drivers who, if we need someone at short notice, could play that role."

Brown was not referring to official test driver Sergio Sette Camara, who is linked to McLaren sponsor Petrobras. He does not have a super license.

Sette Camara confirmed that he will focus on Formula 2 this year.
