Just in regards to the death of Alan 'Bud' Jackson during last years Manx GP
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe ... n-47057611
Kendal racer Alan 'Bud' Jackson died after TT brake failure
A "vastly experienced" motorcycle racer died after a "perfect storm" of factors led to his brake failing at the Isle of Man's Classic TT, an inquest has heard.

Alan "Bud" Jackson, 62 and from Kendal, died in hospital a day after crashing at the Creg-Ny-Baa during qualifying on 23 August 2018.

Witnesses said Mr Jackson did all he could to stop his Manx Norton, which had been travelling at up to 80mph.

Coroner Jayne Hughes recorded a verdict of accidental death.

Douglas courthouse heard the pub landlord had been racing on the Isle of Man for 40 years and had won four Manx Grand Prix races on the TT course. ...
Read further details at link above. I leave this here and maybe it is some useful info for the mm.org page as well.

Interesting. last year this crash seemed strange to me, and in fact it wasn't a simple crash.

I can tell you that a lot of my mates had been pretty devastated by his loss as they knew him a long time and since really no one believed in a rider mistake, which made it more bitter. I've never got to know him but I've got quite some pics of him from the 2017 Post TT, the 2017 Manx GP and from both the 2018 pre and post TT's. In my time over back at the Manx in 2017 I've seen a lowsider at the exact same place by Dave Moffit and have photos of it up to a point when the angle from the Creg's balcony didn't allow much more.
When you look at a more detailed map or in google maps streetview in 3d there's a backroad to the left called Creg-ny-Baa Backroad, which was part of the Clypse Course back in the day. And Alan obviously had tried to get in there according to the coroner report. With an estimated 70-80 mph it would be hard to get in there, especially with failed brakes, since it would be a lightly above 90° corner and the backroad is usually lined up with cars right left. Not at the beginning though but just a few meters in.
The thing is, I don't know from which side he tried to clip into the Backroad. Naturally, the racing line is on the left hand side so if it happened there, his chances were dim to not really existent. However, a sad loss.

This is one of my TT'18 pics from the very top of Keppel Gate on Senior Race Day. The Creg-ny-Baa Backroad follows the blue barrier towards the left hand side

It's the same place or i'm out of my mind? Don't know precisely all the corners in the TT, but that back shot reminded me instantly of this video

It's a really really shitty place to lose the brakes, no wonders he didn't survive...

No place there is really good to have something like this happen. However, I played a bit with googlemaps and here you can see the Backroads entry much better

I think I posted a short promo clip from this documentary below a couple weeks ago.
However, this is the full episode of Religion Of Sports | Season 3 | The Space Between on the Isle of Man TT races.
Really good if you look for something to watch tonight :bye:
