Maybe at the start of each race FOM can show statistics on how great the fans are:

OK let's be honest. This idea is to entice the new/casual F1 fan into understanding a bit more how the whole thing works. I have tonnes of friends who tell me they can't make head or tail of basic things - like why drivers need to pit, why the strategy plays such an important role, why they can't just overtake someone in front of them in the middle of a corner etc etc. It's not intended for people like us who know the sport inside out and can understand what's going on even with no visuals or commentary.

The one thing I like most is the 'car status' visual which gives us a good idea about how the driver is really suffering or having a good time. We would maybe be able to find out if the driver is really pushing hard, having problems with tyre overheating or engine issues and can relate more to what he is doing on the track. I personally like that.

It's missing Justin Beiber looking on from trackside. Will Smith doing camera work. Will Smith coming over the radio. Whatever celebrity in the pits.

I do miss the old stuff. I came across plenty of races back in the day where I had no idea who the winner was going to be. But it was, 25 years on, edge of the seat stuff because there were so many unknowns.
