lol.

Bottas...

Bottas won in these two seasons 3 races with a Mercedes.

3.

Rosberg won except for the first season Hamilton and he were teammates, at least 5 races each season.

Well done Lewis. That career choice in 2012 certainly paid off handsomely.

Well that was interesting. The gaps were massive! I can’t remember a race in modern times where the 5th placed man overlapped the 6th placed (before Bottas stopped for the third time), and the 6th placed being 2 laps down on the leader..

Danny must think he’s got the most rotten luck in the world right now.

That only works if you’re looking at the statistics. Bottas has been in play for other race wins. We might as well say the same thing about Kimi at Ferrari and Seb with the World Championships in these past two seasons.

I lasted until lap 50. Doing a 9 hour shift now on an hour's sleep. Up until that point I thought it was worth it. Can't believe we saw another DAAANN retirement but it hardly surprises me. Great win for Max too.

I thought at the time he said that, that pitlane control /adjustment of the cars was banned. They were not allowed to do pitlane / garage car settings changes beyond telling the drivers what to adjust in the name of safety.

I think Mercedes for once had the right objective for the race. Basically not to bother about the win, just do enough to secure the WDC for Lewis.

Definitely one of the best races this season even though 6th placed car was lapped twice!

Well, I missed the first 30 laps of the race, and I must have missed a cracker, because the second half of the race was rather dull.

How did Dan screw up the start?

And what's this tyre screw up talk?

Can only laugh at the end though. Seems fitting that Dan had another failure.

What the hell was up with that Will Smith recording after the race? First thing you hear is an actor giving congratulations. WTF?

Otherwise, although it's almost like an Alonso Le Mans victory - victory by default - congratulations to Lewis Hamilton for a fifth title. A great achievement, even if he is a prat.

That Will Smith voice thing was weird. It took a few seconds for me to realise who it was. The caption was "Celebrity Voice"

As races go it wasn't too bad. Some good on track stuff. Also, the run to the first corner being broadcast using the helicam was fantastic.

Dan got too much wheelspin at the start. I could start my own conspiracy theory here that Daniels launch control was adjusted to allow Max to lead into T1. Max's launch control system was perfect.

Re tyre screw up I think that the suggestion is Pirelli brought the wrong tyres.... most drivers seemed to spend the race carrying out tyre preservation. Because the hypersoft were such a non event in terms of durability, teams used the ultrasoft in Q2 to allow them to start on them rather than hypersofts with had a life of 3 laps tops. I know some teams in the race were having to use tyres that had been used

Im not quite sure I understand Lewis' comments about matching Fangio's 5 titles.
“I’ve been with Mercedes since I was 13 and to complete this, when Fangio had done it with Mercedes, is an incredible feeling and it is very surreal to me at the moment.
Lewis needs to check his facts.... Fangio only won 1 arguably 2 titles with Mercedes (1954 he started the year in a Maserati winning two races with them, before he joined Mercedes after Spa)
He won in 1955 in a Mercedes, but his first title in 1951 was with Alfa Romeo, ans his last two,1956 with Ferrari, 1957 with Maserati.

Of Fangio's 24 GP Victories only eight were with Mercedes.

I know Lewis has to push the Mercedes brand as the be all and end all of all things automotive, but 'fair suck of the sav' Lewis, that is pushing the truth a bit

It was simple product placement. LH is now a 5-time champ like Fangio who also won the title for Mercedes. Nobody cares about nit-picking Fangio's career choices let alone these big corpo guys ;)
