Back to All News

Published August 13, 2018

Written by: Ulster Grand Prix

Noel Johnston, Clerk of the Course at the Ulster Grand Prix said: “Fabrice Miguet has now passed away due to the injuries he sustained at the Ulster Grand Prix on Saturday.

“I’ve known Fabrice, or MIG as he’s known to many, for over 20 years, even before I became Clerk of the Course at the UGP. He’d been racing at Dundrod for a long time, and was a big character who had become part of the fabric of the event.

“We have been in constant contact with his team and family since Saturday, both directly and via local authorities, and I am extremely saddened to know that he has succumbed to his injuries.

“Our thoughts are with Fabrice’s parents and the Optimark team, as well as his wider circle of family and friends as they come to terms with their loss.”

Fabrice was aged 49, from Normandy in France. He was a regular competitor at the Ulster Grand Prix and Isle of Man TT.

RIP Fabrice. :rip:

Sadly It did seem that he was headed that way after the initial reports spoke of 'unendurable injuries' in the initial press release.

Calgary's Sean Henderson was fatally injured at Castrol Raceway during a race organized by the Edmonton Motorcycle Roadracing Association. Henderson later died in hospital.

"He was always happy, excited, open," said Henderson's longtime friend Julien Camanini.

"I hope he is remembered as the passionate, happy, joyful person that he was. I feel like it's the same things that people always say, but in this case, whoever you ask, they will tell you the same thing. ...

It is with great sadness to pass on the news of the death of sidecar racer and six time sidecar world champion as well as four time Isle of Man TT winner Klaus, aged 81, who has died earlier today.
Klaus Enders' first world championship race took place at the old Spa in 1960 and he went on to become a six time world champion between 1967 and 1974, which included a one year sabbatical in 1971. Having won four Isle of Man TT's during the same time span, Klaus became Germanies most successful motorcycle racer, accompanied by Ralf Engelhardt and Wolfgang Kalauch, and his record is still unbeaten to this day.
All his world championships as well as TT victories have been on BMW sidecars, and the final world championship in 1974 marks BMW's final sidecar world championship to this day.

Ride in peace, Klaus
