Bemsee racer Kyle O’Donovan has died
POWERBIKES racer Kyle O’Donovan has died after an accident on the Brands Hatch GP circuit this weekend while racing with Bemsee.
The Global Robots BMW rider was competing in the club’s premier big bike ranks on Sunday when the incident occurred.
A statement from BMCRC officials reads:
It is with great sadness that the Club advises the loss of our young rider, Kyle O’Donovan.
Kyle has succumbed to injuries received after an accident at the bottom of Paddock Hill Bend at Brands Hatch on Sunday 8th July. Whilst the circumstances are under investigation, it appears that he lost control of his bike – no other riders were involved.
A hugely popular talent in the Bemsee Paddock, we’ve been observing his improvement since he started racing in 2016.
He was 28 years old and will be sorely missed by the many friends he had at Bemsee, the many expressions of best wishes and support from riders and others on our Social Media channels so soon after the incident bears this out.
The Club pays tribute to him and our thoughts are with his fiancée Chloe, his family and his great many friends.
The Club also thanks the Medical Team led on this occasion by Dr Rosie Furse for their efforts at the incident along with the Marshals & Officials that attended and managed the scene. The intervention of the local HEMS unit and the focus on Kyle’s care did result in our abandoning the meeting at that point in the day. We also thank riders who were due to still race for their expressions of concern and support for the Club’s actions at the time.
We will arrange to remember Kyle at a meeting later in the season to give all that knew him their own chance to mark his passing in an environment he loved so much.
UK Clubsport was fortunate enough to share a pint with Kyle earlier this season, and are saddened to hear this tragic news.
We wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.
