8.5 rounded down to an 8 because I'm a bastard.

But that was quite enjoyable. The first 1/3 or so was utter rubbish, and things only got spiced up by because of a needless safety car.

7. Not as good as the Bahrain GP. But a brilliant drive by Ric and some shenanigans.

I gave it 8 because after a sleepy first 15+laps it suddenly all let loose and I couldnt even get up to get a bottle of red for fear of missing something. :omg:
Pity it takes a safety car and stuff to liven it all up but better than a snorefest as it was trying to be.
I even watched the Sky post mortem.

isn't that a bit harsh? true, there was a degree of fabrication to the race, but it was always going to be a race of compromise after Vettel decided to block Kimi out of a second position at the start.

I don t get what vettel did wrong defending his position at the start. Isn t your teamate your first competitor?
My opinion on this race is not high. Despite a fantastic drive by ricciardo his win was triggered by fate and...pirellis. The pirelli tyres are actually a joke, even more than charlie race direction

7.

Nothing excuses the utter procession that was the first 20 laps. Cars following, not being able to catch up or pass, saving, maintaining or whatever.

Then it was like a perfect storm of factors that led to an epic following 36 laps.

With a delayed SC call as it happens perfectly timed by Charlie, waiting for the two leaders to pass the pit entry to spice things up. How very NASCAR.

Yes chris. That was really strange. A call after the leaders just passed the pit entrance. Bwah

I gave it a seven because, there was plenty of strategy going on, mixing it up, first Ferrari staying out too long allow Mercedes to use the undercut on them, then the safety and the incredibly late call for Red Bull to pit which gave us plenty of excitement in the final third of the race, Max playing crashi-bashi again and Daniel Ricciardo with his outrageous dives down the inside.

As it happens I dont think it would have made any difference if they had been able to pit straightaway.
Toto said after that they would not have pitted Bottas or Lewis because they had already decided track position was more important. I suspect Ferrari, already committed to a one stop was of similar feeling. Toto admitted that they got it badly wrong.

But regardless it was very dodgy timing by Charlie.

6/10 here but I might be a bit on the stingy side with that rating. Let's call it 6-1/2.

Nice to see Ricciardo score after the Ba ba ba ba Barbarain fiasco. I actually rather like the Ozzie pilot. Of all the current crop, I find him the least objectionable. If Max had managed to keep cool, it could have been an RBR 1-2 with the Dutchman on the top step.

The days of me getting up/staying up to watch races at 2AM are over. I watched a re-broadcast at 8AM.
Miles to go B4 I sleep
