2018 Australian GP *SPOILERS*
Ok...I said I wasn't going to watch F1 this season, but I will watch Australia. This will be the first time in my life I get the chance to watch it live in the middle of the day, I've otherwise been getting up at 2-4am every year to watch since 1999.
1. Can someone tell me when I can watch it Tokyo time?
2. Can anyone briefly post a summary of pre-season testing for me?

Tokyo is two hours behind Melbourne/Sydney at this time of the year (when daylight savings is on in those cities).

Mercedes will walk it. Ferrari and Red Bull will fight for second.
McLaren is HILARIOUS. The rest of the teams are just there to put up the numbers.

Oh, and add to that STR-Honda will be ahead of McLaren Renault.
@PTRACER Re testing, it is all up in the air. Raikkonen summed it up by saying Ferrari even with their outright lap record 1-2 in the standings pace had more pace up their sleeves, and that everyone was sandbagging.... He said basically nothing is known or taken from testing times set, and it is all guesswork at the moment until they get to Melbourne qualy when we will see the true pace of the cars for the first time.
There was with one exception great reliability from all. Particularly STR Honda were impressive after last year.
McLaren Renault could barely put a stint together other than rare days, red flags a plenty as they dropped fluids and stopped on track, then changing engines at will, and showing scorch marks on the bodywork from overheating. So much so they turned up with holes punched in the engine cover for extra cooling. Honda must be smiling inside as their failures can now be pointed to McLaren installation. But with the pink hypersoft tyres McLaren were for one or two laps quick. But their reliability was embarrassing compared to other Renault users who were doing 2-3 race distances per day.
Mercedes were sandbagging big time, never setting quick laps but pounding round for lap after lap all day every day it seemed.

Despite being off-grid on baby duty recently, did I miss something? What spoilers are we referring to here? This isn't a movie.

There will be spoilers on the day and many in Europe and in Merica will be watching delayed rather than live, whereas those downunder and in the Far East will be posting live info on the day as it happens.

Aren't we all 'true' fans here and be watching live? And if not, know to avoid such pages as these.

Will we all be watching live? I would say 'Not a chance'. F1 has lost that must watch whatever the time of night of its heyday. Now Liberty have altered the Euro start times to being over an hour later I wont be watching all GPs live either. (And yes I have watched pretty much all GPs for over 50 years, live when available, so my level of interest in F1 is not it.) But now they are less of a must watch live event. I will record them and watch them on the Monday. In the meantime from race time until I watch it I will avoid the media so as not to 'spoil' the result.
Is the word Spoiler really that offensive? If it saves one person inadvertently spoiling their race it is worth it. I cant believe anyone is taking issue over 1 word in a thread title.

I won't be watching live. I don't recall the last time I got up for the Australian GP.

It's not offensive. I just thought it was a given, being a 'live' event. Spoilers are for TV shows or movies, where release dates are different. But if anyone wants to watch it as such, then so be it.Everso Biggyballies wrote: ↑6 years agoIs the word Spoiler really that offensive? I 'have' to watch live as I do a lap-by-lap live update for a client but otherwise I don't know how often I'd watch it live. Watching a recording *cough* torrent and skipping through the boring bits is way more preferrable for today's F1.

mostly i watch it live. but the charm of the 90's is gone. I loved it when the Aussie GP started at 2pm local time.

Lol.... I think you mean 2.00am! A Euro 2.00pm start would be a local Melbourne race start time of about midnighterwin greven wrote: ↑6 years ago mostly i watch it live. but the charm of the 90's is gone. I loved it when the Aussie GP started at 2pm local time.
