B2t: Should we add "Public roads" as an option for "track type"?

I had that problem with Evgeniy Firsov's fatal accident

@hollie3sa - Tbh, even though I added the thing myself, even I get confused as to when to use Street Course, Road Course etc.

I feel there should be a CLEAR difference between say, the old Brno, or the old Sachsenring and say Phoenix, Detroit etc.

Should we add a fake entry to the database, to see if anyone copies from us?

I've thought about this after reading this article:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fictitious_entry
I like the idea.
I'm still thinking about it... like this one:

What about unidentified crashes that are still on the forum?
Do you see any chance of identifying them when we add them to the CPdB? People who see the database might have some informations to add.

Rather silly question, but necessary since I've gotten to that point in my Indianapolis project:

How do you suppose I should properly differentiate the two Jacques Villeneuve's? By this, I mean the younger "JV" we're familiar with in F1, CART, and such, and the older "Uncle Jacques"?

Interesting, I don't think we've had a name clash yet.

Choices:

1. Jacques Villeneuve Snr. / Jacques Villeneuve Jr.
2. Jacques Villeneuve (Snr.) / Jacques Villeneuve (Jr.)
3. Jacques Villeneuve (1) / Jacques Villeneuve (2)

What do you think?

Snr. & Jnr. is misleading, and 1& 2 ambivalent. I've seen "Jacques Villeneuve (o)" for oncle, works well enough for me.

Option 3. Option 1 and 2 are misleading

Oncle = Uncle. (U) You could also use the birth year. 1953 and 1971. (53) and (71)

I like the idea. But I would not shorten the birth year.

Anything you guys want me to do before I move away? I have a long list of British items to add to the CPdB, haven't had any time to do them, but I'll make a start soon. Will try to work on it from Japan once my PC arrives there, but full time job + relationship + living in foreign country means I might not have a lot of spare time to do this for the foreseeable future (but I am by no means abandoning it!)

Yes, one thing:

Compare the two warning gifs.

"You have reached the bottom of this message" is written in capital letters in "warning1.gif"

Image

Here, "You have reached the top of this message" isn't.

Image

Could you change that? As a German, that bothers me.

This is the very first time I used the search engine of the data base and, what can I say... HUH?

First, typing in "US" or "USA" produced but three results, none of which happened in the USofA. So, understand, I need to type out "United States" - O-KEEEEEEH.....!?? :sarcasm:

Then the next thing: trying to select a category, I find no fewer than three entries for Saloon cars, Touring cars or Stock cars (now, what was the difference again?), but only one (ONE!) for all Open wheelers!! C'mon, you can't be serious! Can I not select between F1, FFord, Sprint cars or Midgets????? (To say nothing of F2, F3, F3000, F5000, FAtlantic, FPacific, FOpel, FRenault, Super Vee, Tasman Formula, Indy car, Champ car, Super Modifieds, FJunior, etc. etc. etc.)
