There is a challenge for us European viewers, as the clocks move forward one hour on Sunday morning.

I understand that in Australia, the race starts one hour earlier than quali. So basically, if you take into account the time change in the EU/UK, the starting time for both remains the same (7am CET and 6am in the UK)

6am in the UK and 7am Central Europe. That's cute.

Our clocks in Melbourne don't change until 2nd April this year, (when we go back an hour) so at least the confusion of another time change doesn't confuse it more

Full timetable in Melbourne local time.

The main two times you guys will worry about are race and qualy. The race used to start at 5.pm local but that year we almost ended in the dark under the trees, the shadows and low sun affected the drivers judgement, so as Antonov said the race now starts an hour earlier at 4.00pm local. Qualy, being only 1 hour, still starts at 5.00pm.

SATURDAY QUALY
17:00 - 18:00 FORMULA ONE QUALIFYING SESSION

SUNDAY RACE
16:00 -18:00 FORMULA ONE 2017 FORMULA 1 ROLEX AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX
(58 LAPS OR 120 MINS)

Bernie Ecclestone has confirmed that he will be attending 50% of GP's this year, but Australia wont be one of them.
"I won't be in Australia this weekend."

Ecclestone broke the news to his friend Sebastian Vettel by saying: "'I'm not bloody well coming to Australia just to play backgammon with you!'

"'Can you wait until Bahrain?'" Ecclestone told the Ferrari driver
:haha:

You can plug the local date/time into Wolframalpha and it returns the time in your current time zone. Comes in handy in the months where everyone switches between summer and standard time.

On the US East Coast, every European GP starts at 8am. The flyaway races all much earlier. The only races at normal times are Austin, Mexico and Canada.

Yeah, Mexico, Montreal Austin and Brazil all start at 3.00 am (Maybe Austin is later?) for us in Melbourne. Euro GPs 10pm. I get confused when the local timezones are run and start in daylight! Im not in GP mode then and often miss the start or at least the preview. Nowadays I just set the autotune on the TV at the beginning of the weekend.

I'm interested to see how Perez will fare. He's been one of the best at tyre management during this last era (2012-2015) but now with the tyres not wearing that much and more onus on flat out driving, how will he cope.

Nice pic of Senna in the Lotus in front of the Stag Hotel on the old Adelaide Circuit in 1987.
It was blazing hot and the teams were running all the cooling they could to keep the brakes happy... Senna finished 2nd on the road but was DSQ'd post race because his brake ducts were 10mm too wide.

agreed. Problem with the livery is that it replaced another iconic livery. Ideally, both would have raced at the same time.

Kimi was also apparently sleeping until five minutes before his first ever qualifying session at Melbourne in 2001 :haha:

Talking of sleep - who plans to join us on the forum for the free practice and qualifying sessions on Friday and Saturday morning? I will certainly be here!
