Dam saw it on the news earlier, not good that all these people are dying from respiratory problems, something they frankly shouldn't be.
As with Paul, had the pleasure of meeting this chap and watching a few races many moons ago from the old top of the hospitality units at Brands, you always used to see him (and Martin Donnelly Sr) at the Festival each year turning up like old pennies, such a genuinely nice bloke.

I am very sorry if you find my posts long and boring, I like to type and often go off on a tangent.

Sorry to hear this. A legend and a unique one. RIP.

Very sad news. A whole generation is leaving us. I was reading about him a few weeks ago. I learned that he got an advice from Mike Hawthorn to get in a car. Initially he didn't give much attention, but some time later he found himself driving for Reg Parnell.
I love that footage of him driving his Cooper T53 on French streets.
RIP

Just a bit of news that involves the late John Surtees.
We all know that John Surtees is still the only person to have won World Championships on two and four wheels.... but John is also the only person ever to clinch the WDC for Ferrari in a Ferrari that was not painted red.
Back in 1964, John Surtees famously clinched the Formula 1 World Championship at the season-ending Mexican Grand Prix driving a white and blue Ferrari.
The reason it was not red was due to one of Enzo's many dummy spits. Following a dispute with the FIA about the homologation of his 250 LM sports car in late 1964, Enzo Ferrari handed in his team’s competition license and vowed that his cars would never race in Italian red again. Of course the 'no red' protest only lasted a couple of races, but his cars contested the last two (North American) races of the Formula 1 season under the entry of Luigi Chinetti’s North American Racing Team and were painted white and blue.
During Ferrari’s 70th anniversary year in 2017, also the year Surtees passed away, Ferrari sold 350 unique cars each honouring a single car from its illustrious history. The car was the GTC4 Lusso – with its white and blue colour scheme, roundels featuring the number seven and sumptuous navy leather interior – paid tribute to the very Ferrari 158 in which John Surtees won the 1964 title.
Now they have released their new 812 they have also recreated the same livery, with the 812 featuring blue-tinted carbon-fibre and the extra-large hand-painted Scuderia shields. The price of this one off.... a mere GBP 330,000 , or AU$634,000!
A nice touch for the wealthy collectors out there.
The 812
I think this is the GTC4Lusso Tribute car

If you had that much money, you wouldn't buy a Ferrari estate/hatchback. Why would Ferrari even make one?

I think they are 4WD as well, so the SUV you buy when you dont want an SUV but need somewhere to throw in the skis etc and head to the slopes!
But agreed not the prettiest Ferrari, by a long shot.
