could we spare a thought for the Ferrari F50? by itself, it is a weird looking car. add to that that it is a shadow of its brilliant F40 predecessor, and you have one of the ugliest cars produced.

(mind you, wouldnt decline a ride)

Jesus, you wouldn't think a unique, priceless car like that would be allowed out on a race track.

Actually, isn't it depicted here, completely wrecked?! Photo right down the bottom of the page:

tbh, I find the Breadvan as one of the most gorgeous cars ever built!

PTRacer, the wreck in the 2nd to last picture in your link isn't the Breadvan its 2053GT

On a separate note the 212 Export Cabriolet Abbott is likely the ugliest Ferrari of all time:

Le Mans 1950. I have no idea what to say about this. The car looks like it doesn't know its front end from its back end.

some extra information about this car:
Image

So was it a one-off special then? It looks like a pig, but judging by Erwin's post it was quite revolutionary?! Second Le Mans ever with a diesel, first ever with a mid-engined car, and it seems the chassis was made of molybdenum too which is a very unusual material.

I find the MAP diesel LeMans car to be somewhat fascinating, PT. Charming in some sense if you will. It's got that certain, well, I'm not quite sure. Sort of a je ne sais quoi...

It was, after all, French, non? :)

So was Françoise Hardy ;) viewtopic.php?f=12&p=296545#p296526

The French had a talent for producing both the most beautiful creations you've ever seen, and the ugliest. (Bugattis vs. Rene Bonnet's creations for example :whistling: )

.
that is one ugly car
The translation isn't much clearer than the French
.
Next year a new car is entirely constructed, one re-thinks of everything, chassis, position of the motor and bodywork, to participate at 24 hours of Mans on 1950, it will be the first car with central motor of the history of Mans, this year there 2 cars with diesel engine participates in it. MAP hits n°1. It will not go, abandonment on superheating further to a water leak in the 39eme turn, at the 7th hour far. The pilots are Fernand Lacour, Jean-Pierre Wimille and Pierre Veyron (co victor in 39 on Bugatti), According to Mr Lequellec, whose big father welded the chassis of this last version, in Argenteuil. The chassis was tubular and steel in Chromium Molybdenum; in epoch nobody knew how to weld this material and one needed the help of the Institute of Soldering which was called " The weld " to manage to weld the chassis. But his father was never paid because MAP made a resounding failure shortly afterwards.
If a man can't look at danger and still go on, man has stopped living. If the worst ever happens – then it means simply that I've been asked to pay the bill for the happiness of my life – without a moment's regret. Graham Hill

This Delahaye. This was special "aerodynamic bodywork" apparently.
