Now I understand why the SA Govt are putting effort behind Tailem Bend, which they see as the future of SA Motorsport.
I would hope so.

It blows big time to lose the 500, that was one of the best tracks in Australia.

Sadly I wouldn't be surprised if the other street circuits get cancelled as well since they're all reliant on government funding. Maybe Townsville might stay because there isn't any permanent track up there (although one is being built atm).

No full-time return for Coulthard at DJR in 2021

The worst kept secret in the Supercars paddock is now confirmed. No full time seat for Fabs at the new look DJR .... his best hope is a co-driver slot with the tem for the enduros, unless he secures a full time ride elsewhere.

Scott is already tied in to one of the cars for the enduros.

Confirmation of their two new full time drivers is expected next week, but seems to be looking like Will Davison and Andre de Pasquale as had been widely rumoured.

Yes. Scotty Mac. Sorry should have been clearer.
Although on reflection I am now not sure if it is for all the enduros (should they all run.) It is actually just Bathurst he has been confirmed for, I guess due to clashes with other events on the Indycar schedule which is clearly his priority for next year. (I think I read that the Indycar calendar finishes in September so there will be no clash with Bathurst in early October)

Didn't see this one coming....

Kim Jones quits Brad Jones Racing.

Kim Jones has announced he will step away from the Brad Jones Racing fold he part owns with brother Brad, handing over his ownership share to Brad.

I must confess I did not realise he was only there part time these days and had semi retired. He always seems to be around.
The decision to step away from the team comes after 40 years as part of the Supercars Championship through its various guises.

Nothing sinister in the split, more I think Kim is a bit older and ready for the next stage in his life.

De Pasquale confirmed out of Erebus

Not quite the full story, but Erebus have confirmed that Anton de Pasquale id leaving the team after three years. Of course the paddock secret is that he is taking one of the DJR Shell team seats vacated by ScottyMac and Coulthard.
Maybe that news will be made now his Erebus departure has been confirmed.

What has been confirmed though is that Will Brown will take his place in the main game Penrite Erebus team.

De Pasquale and Davison join Dick Johnson Racing. ***Confirmed***

The worst kept paddock secret has now been confirmed.....

Anton was confirmed a couple of days ago to be out of Erebus afyer a three year stint, and in that time has shown his potential with a race win and several podiums. He is ready for the next step up the ladder in his career so good luck to him.

For Davison its a bit of a full circle for him,, returning to the squad for which he cut his teeth in back when he made his Supercars debut.... Will drove for three years from 2006 (following a year as a co-driver alongside Steven Johnson in 2005).

It marks a return to full-time competition for Will, after stepping out of a primary driver role midway through the 2020 campaign. He was starting to get some good results in the Milwaukee / Team 23 Mustang when the team lost its backing and folded when Covid came along. He certainly has plenty of experience and has always been a talent. You dont win Bathurst by luck alone.

I dont think either of them are a ScottyMac, but both are certainly handy punters who, subject to the car continuing to perform should be capable of wins. De Pasquale is still in the early stage of his career and has continued.to impress. I think they should make a good pair and wish them and the team the best of luck in its knew / return to Dick Jonson Racing,... without Penske.(although they will still be involved as a sponsor and behind the scenes helper.

I guess the next news we need to hear is if Ludo Lacroix the genius behind the scenes and previously Scott's engineer after joining DJRTP from T888 when Penske came on board. I think that will be key to the whole transition of the team.

It has happened....

Lacroix to stay at DJR

Dick Johnson Racing’s technical guru, Ludo Lacroix, has been confirmed as staying on in 2021. Great news for the team as he is the technical guy behind the entire operation, and is widely respected as being the best tech guy in Aus. He was certainly considered a key part of the Team and Scott's success since he moved from T888 when DJR combined with Penske.

One of his key functions in 2021 will be designing and sorting the homologation of the Gen 3 Ford Mustang, with Gen 3 to be introduced for 2022. DJR remains Ford’s homologation team, meaning it, and therefore Lacroix, is charged with developing the Gen3 Mustang alongside Ford Performance.

Hazlewood confirmed to stay at BJR.

Brad Jones Racing has confirmed Todd Hazelwood will continue to drive for them in next year’s Supercars Championship. No real surprise aas he had a greay year which includes a pole position and a podium.

Hazelwood’s re-signing firms up at least half of the BJR line-up with Nick Percat already confirmed for 2021. Jack Smith will probably continue as the third of the four seeing as his family own the REC that enters the family business sponsored car.

A bit more news regarding BJR...

Phil Munday owned the now defunct Tickford run Milwaukee Tools backed Red 23 Mustang entry for Will Davison last year, until Covid caused Milwaukee to withdraw their backing with the team quitting as a result. Last year Boost MObile stepped in to lease the equipment and take over the backing of the car.

With Tim Blanchard taking his REC out of BJR Racing to set up his own team this left Brad Jones seeking an REC to maintain BJR as a 4 car team. Today Phil Munday has confirmed that he has sold his REC to BJR, which will allow them to continue as a 4 car team.

Munday also confirmed that he has also leased both of his Mustangs to Tim Blanchard, who will use to run with his REC in what is expected to be a single car entry run out of the CoolDrive Auto Parts base in Melbourne. MUnday has apparently been helping Tim with all the business of setting up the team, although I am not sure if he has any financial interest. The CoolDrive entry is tipped to be driven by Tim Slade.

The Mobile Boost team which took over the berth at Tickford last year, using the re-liveried car they leased from Munday is one of the cars that has now been leased to CoolDrive/Blanchard.... this leaves Boost Mobile in a position of no car to run for James Courtney for next year, but they have confirmed Tickford are building them a new car to do the job.

All a bit complicated but it all seems to have worked out with all now having the necessary REC to enter each fulltime Supercars entry along with the cars they need.

Is that the same Repco that powered the Brabhams in the late 60s?

Yes... the very same.

This explains their journey, from long before they chipped in to develop Jack Brabham's engines.
https://www.repco.com.au/en/about-us

Nowadays they are a multi branch (over 400 outlets) national chain providing replacement parts and accessories at both trade and retail levels.
