Having not watched live BTCC races prior to the current three race format, I think the three race format is great. I think a half hour sprint is a very good distance for a touring car race in general. You can slot it into a programme so that there's no need to have a commercial break in the middle (unless there is a safety car), the races are generally action packed from start to finish and there's not that much driving around holding positions once the pecking order has been established, but you can still make up a lot of ground during a single race if you have to start from the back. I don't really see what adding 10 or 20 minutes would add into the mix...

I thought the races on the weekend were OK. Some good racing, some rather physical moves but I guess that's the way in touring cars these days.

Remember Rds 4,5, and 6 are this weekend from Donny. It also looks like the weather may play a role.

A very good days racing at Donnington Park today led to wins for Shedden, Jordan and Turkington in the new WSR BMW. One of the most noticeable things about today is how clean the Touring car races were. Even Neal and Plato didn't manage to hit anything.

Regarding points, your top 5 after 6 rounds:

Plato = 84 pts
Jordan = 83 pts
Neal = 78 pts
Tordoff = 73 pts
Shedden = 72 pts.

Also, once again there were some really impressive drives by Tordoff and Morgan.

Looks like we may have a 3rd manufacturer in the BTCC at some point. KIA are looking incredible likely to be entering with the Optima.

I thought Plato had a 5 point lead? That's what I saw after the race 3 results yesterday.

He does for some reason I've taking the championship results after race 2 for the top 2 and after race 3 for the rest. That takes a special kind of idiocy. Here are the actual top 5 in points:

Plato = 92 pts
Jordan = 87 pts
Neal = 78 pts
Tordoff = 73 pts
Shedden = 72 pts.

Race 1: Matt Neal after Jordon got a puncture on the final lap/
Race 2:Matt Neal took his 50th win from TOC

Team Hard have built a really solid car as TOC has so far scored a 3rd and 2nd. The Insiginia's are also doing pretty good. Jack Goff is on pole for Race 3.

Today has also been really rather clean again. 3rd race is scheduled to start in about 20 minutes.

Frank Wrathall is currently on trial for causing the death of a cyclist. He was on his mobile and cameras show him simply turning into the cyclist. I hope they through the book at him.

Your 2013 BTCC champion is Andy Jordan. Really pleased for him.

Next year is going to be even better with more makes and lots of young drivers looking at the BTCC.

Not the Civic Estate surely? That'll be like the Volvo 850 all over again :tongue:

If it is to be anything like the Volvo 850, then Honda will need to dial out about 2 seconds per lap pace from the car. :haha:
