American TV is useless when it comes to televising motor racing  Oh well, I'm glad I live in the UK, I'm pretty sure us Brits can watch all of those live on Sky Sports (or is it MotorsTV?)

Eurosport 2 Champ Car has been on the last couple of years with Motors TV a few days after the race.

The Eurosport 2 coverage was pretty bad with lots of over-running etc.

Time to buy Race Director for the second time. This might be worse than the Spike TV fiasco.

It's really time for the merger between Champcar and Indycar... Hope it will happen soon because TG is going to win the fight.

Champcar calendar is horrible. First race in the end of April, way later than the season openers of the other series (how stupid), 7 races in June/July, there is 1 month between Elkhart Lake & Assen, and same delay between Assen and Surfers Paradise... And we still don't know who will start in Champcar this season, I think only Graham Rahal (Newman-Haas) and Oriol Servia (PKV) have been confirmed yet. We still don't know what Paul Tracy is going to do, Champcar needs PT to survive !

So the dates might be a little silly, but look at the circuits they're racing on  While a lot of them are in the USA, it's more of a World Series than it has been in the past, IMO.

There's races in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Belgium, Holland, Spain and Australia. Next thing they need is a race at Silverstone...

There's too few races in the US though. The US market and the interest there is vital for the series to survive.

Then they should call it the ARL (American Racing League).

The problem with the calendar is that the clump of races in the summer is going to burn people out fairly quickly, and the 6-week gap between 'that bike circuit' and Surfers is going to kill the momentum of any title fight. The CCWS has the ultimate hat-trick of crappy European car circuits, with Assen being too narrow for cars, the post-Villeneuve Zolder being too Mickey-Mouse for cars that powerful, and Jerez which struggles to deliver even with bikes on it. They have got the right idea with Mont Tremblant, though.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Snetterton added by 2010.

Two major positives that the series really needs right now are the fact that the winter should give Panoz time to sort out the starter motor issues, as well as the departure of Bourdais\Seabass\Sebastard. The amount of backlash I saw directed in his (and race control's) direction after Mont Tremblant was hilarious. His departure should guarantee a title fight that goes at least to Surfers if not all the way to Mexico.

Well another issue is that the calender is VERY badly planned. The teams already voiced concerns over going to Europe because the sponsors don't like it, and it costs a lot. So what did they do? They split the Zolder/Assen rounds, added Jerez, so now we have an extra European race and have to make 2 trips over the water. Whos bright idea was that?

They already make some expensive road trips up into Canada, an expensive trip into Europe and a very expensive trip over to Australia, so they add more?

A dramatic news for the champcar.

Raphael Matos, the champcar Atlantic champion last season, is going to Indy Pro Series and has refused the 2,000,000$ cheque to join the Champcar World Series...

That doesn't sound good for the Champcar at all... Tony George must be very happy right now unfortunately. :sorrow:

I heard about that rumor several weeks ago, but I thought Matos had it resolved.

What a shame for Champ Car.

Tony Cotman has also stepped down, so things are just getting worse. :sorrow:

I'll have the $2,000,000 if he doesn't want it.

I do not believe that $2,000,000 is not enough to buy a seat at least for one year.

That highly surprises me. Does the 2nd place finisher now pick up the bonus, or is it left unclaimed?
