I ask because Roger isn't going to be around forever. He might be a bit of a dick, but he's a pure racer and has the sport's interests at heart. But he won't be running the joint for long.
Tim Cindric will be the sole owner of Team Penske once Roger is gone. According to rumours he owns 49% of the team already. They will be fine and don't need Penske's sons to take over.

A very unattractive and testing (to look at) livery.

Marshall Pruett talked about this in his latest podcast, Greg Penske is set to take over the business side if and when Roger has to step aside. Cindic would probably run the racing side of things.

And it was Tony George who said no to Liberty, even when the rest of the family wanted him to go through with it.

TG did something right for once.

Less concerned about the team (somebody else always springs up), but more to do with the track and series side of things. If you've got someone who doesn't care about racing - or has no knowledge of it (Liberty...) - that can be a clusterfuck.

If that is true then Thank You Tony George, for once you did something good.

The entire sales process only took six weeks, they started at Laguna and wrapped it up now.

MSR to go full time with Jack Harvey in 2020. As expected, partnering with Andretti.

Lovely news!

Best of luck to them. It's the type of team you want to have around for years to come, and done the right way will hopefully expand to a second car in a couple of years.

Until I saw that the intolerable Kurt Busch is eyeing the Indy 500 in 2020. At least Kyle's wife said "hell no" to him when he brought it up, apparently.

Would be swell PR for the series, but man, those two are a pair of dicks.

Former IndyCar medical director Dr. Michael Olinger dies at 69

Image

Dr. Michael Olinger, who looked after the IndyCar Series’ drivers for 13 seasons as its medical director, died on Thursday at the age of 69. Prior to his most recent appointment which spanned 2006-2018, Olinger joined the new Indy Racing League in 1996 as a trackside physician, and was continually promoted until becoming the series’ top medical official.

Olinger’s life was extraordinary in its endless dedication to service.

After enlisting in the Army where he became a pilot and completing his medical degree in Colorado, Olinger put his skills to work in emergency and rescue scenarios that found him on the ground at the World Trade Center following 9/11, the bombing of the Federal building in Oklahoma City, and natural disasters, among other high-profile postings.

Olinger’s vast and varied experiences made for one of IndyCar’s most fascinating characters. IndyCar legend Mario Andretti spoke for those who were fortunate to have Dr. Olinger waiting and ready on their behalf as part of the AMR Safety Team.
