Real Road Racing 2018

New season ahead with the Cookstown 100 at the end of April !
But today we start with bad to sad news.

First off, the Spring Cup at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough scheduled for 20/21st April has been called off today.

Scarborough - Olivers Mount - Spring Cup – 20th / 21st April 2018

Scarborough - Olivers Mount - Spring Cup – 20th / 21st April 2018
Following a comprehensive Risk Assessment of the Olivers Mount circuit, members of the ACU Road Race Committee met with Directors of Auto 66 / PMH Promotions in January this year and agreed additional safety improvements for the Olivers Mount Circuit.

A circuit inspection took place on 21st March 2018, as agreed, to find that the Organisers had not achieved all the improvements required by that deadline. The deadline was extended to Tuesday 27th March and then further extended to Friday 6th April.

With regret, the ACU are unable to provide a Course Licence for Olivers Mount circuit which means no Permit / Insurance can be issued for the Spring Cup Event due to take place on 20/21st April 2018.

The Organisers/Promoters in conjunction with the ACU and Scarborough Borough Council will work together to try and achieve events at the venue later in the year.
Following the bad news here even worse news followed as Anny Ramsey, Bruce Ansteys partner, announced that Bruce was diagnosed with returning cancer in his lungs and spine.

Top international road racer Bruce Anstey is unlikely to be able to compete this season due to illness, according to his partner, Anny Ramsey.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, she revealed that the hugely popular New Zealand rider is facing a battle with health issues that are likely to rule him out of action this year.

Writing on her Facebook page, Anny said: ‘So folks, some of you already know our sh*t news... ‘Unfortunately, Brucey has become ill. He has multiple tumours in his lungs and a tumour on his spine and a blood clot on the lung just to kick him while his down.

‘I doubt very much Bruce will see any racing this year but we won’t rule that out lol…

‘He is waiting for a treatment plan and should be starting it very soon. I will try to keep you all updated but would really appreciate that you don’t pm me.... sorry for the news folks xxx onwards and upwards.’

The Padgett’s Honda rider, who has battled cancer before, won the feature Superbike race at the Ulster Grand Prix last year on the RC213V-S MotoGP-based machine.

Anstey also won the 250cc Lightweight race at the Classic TT for the second consecutive year, setting a new lap record at 120.475mph to record the first 120mph lap of the Mountain Course on a 250cc machine.
All the very best for a full recovery as well as best wishes to his partner Anne.

Thats terrible news. Very sorry to hear that, and all the very best wishes to Bruce for a full recovery. I just hope the cancer has not taken too firm a grip.
A tough time for Anny too. God's strength to them both.

More bad news today .
John McGuinness announced 'a bit of a setback' and that 'he's gutted and needs to get his head around it'

From reliable sources I heard that John broke the injured leg again while out walking. A start at the TT gets into heavy doubt now.

The major problem is that normally every rider has to collect 6 signatures prior to the TT in order to be allowed to race. It has to be said though, that exceptions are usually made if it concerns the top riders, like Guy Martin last year.

Damn! That's unfortunate for both Anstey and McGuinness. I wish a speedy recovery to both of them.

Two days ago renowned road racer Horst Saiger released a 30min docu on his Macau GP of 2017 for free on youtube. It comes along with English subtitles, too. Really lovely onboards from the Guia circuit in it ;)

While the IRRC raced at Hengelo and Irish Road Racing was at Tandragee the final preparations for this years Northwest 200 got underway. Practice kicks off tomorrow and should be live and not geolocked on BBC NI's website. More of that later

Older video. But to give you an impression of the track.

:insulted: Following the race of the south in Walderstown last weekend, Irish road racing continues this weekend at the Faugheen 50 road races in County Tipperary, Northern Ireland.
A little introduction to the tight and narrow triangle circuit

That track is insanely tight and also quite quick considering the width of the tarmac. :omg:
