Ian-S wrote: 6 years ago What happened in the sidecars? They mentioned about the sidecars starting and to switch over to Eurosport player to watch it, then said there was a red flag, now they've said there's been about an hours delay so they're running fill in VT until the moto3 race on ES2.

Don't think the sidecars were supposed to be shown on ES2 today.
According to a mate an outfit sprayed oil all over the circuit.

It's going to be fascinating season, I wanna see if Bradley Ray can keep up his scintillating pace. It would be great to see a 'new face' at the sharp end and lifting the title.

On a different note, does anybody what Guintoli is up to this season?

Brad Ray surely mixes up the top end. Great to see :)
Sylvain Guintoli went off to Ecstar Suzuki to fill the testrider seat, I believe. From what I was able to gather from a french news article from January anyway

Yeah all I saw was riders falling off. I was a bit busy and did not follow it all but everytime I looked someone was dusting themselves off.

Here's two caps I made today, watch them while you can because funny enough Sky New Zealand put in a copyright strike on them almost immediately, so instead of rolling over this time I disputed it on the grounds the British Superbike broadcasts are done by Discovery Networks and the series is owned by Motorsport Vision, not a broadcaster on the opposite side of the world, so knowing how tetchy Youtube are these days, I'll expect to see my channel deleted by morning

My word James Haydon looks like he's put on a few pounds. Not many but a few. Jamie Whitham is like Philip Scofield, hasn't aged a day bar gray hair.

Shakey has been hospitalised after a crash which knocked him out, and he's currently being treated for neck injuries. Don't know any more.

Yeah heard about it in an interview with Glenn Irwin during the NW200 coverage yesterday. But obviously Glenn couldn't say much more, being at the NW and not at Snetterton.

“I’ve got two bruised lungs, all of my ribs are fractured, I’ve got four broken vertebrae, my neck is broken in two places, I’ve got a broken sternum, collarbone and multiple other back fractures,” Byrne explains.

“Fortunately, there was no paralysis, which is a big, big bonus as that was a real concern at first. The first thing my surgeon said after seeing my x-rays was ‘how on earth are you not paralysed?’

‘The operation to fix my back and neck ran obvious risks of paralysis, but fortunately that went very well. I’m now pretty sore and beaten up, but a rehab and recovery program always starts as soon as a crash ends. It’s a long road ahead but for once I got a great start and can’t thank you all enough for your support through these difficult times. There’s so many people to thank, marshals, medics, team members, friends, fans, and family that I don’t really know where to start. A massive shout-out to my amazing wife, Petra Byrne. She is my world, my everything and never stops being by my side while bringing up our children. She’s been being a Mum to them and then running around like a headless chicken after me, thank you all so much for the support.”

Wow so he's out for the rest of the year at least then.

Makes you wonder what the hell happened for him to get so injured at such a usually mundane corner where nowt ever happens.

The guy is 42 yo. He should retire after this crash. I have no idea how his wife allows him to return after this one. Broken neck at this age should be the final warning you're pushing it too far.

Just watched an interview with him (shakey) wearing a halo bolted to his skull to keep his neck still
He explained how the crash happened he said on his first flying lap out off the pits (he was bedding in some new brake pads)
Going round turn 3 at snetterton the bike suddenly lost grip on the rear so he turned hard to try and save it which he did
Unfortunately by then he was on the grass , he tried to scrub off speed before jumping of bike as it got closer to the crash barrier
And flew head first into the barrier where he was knocked unconscious and received terrible injuries
But now he is looking well on the mend .

Is Turn 3 what's now called Palmer - the fast left?

It must be the fast left DoubleFart because he said he remembers he had just started a flying lap as he was fast in turn 1 then he had a good exit from turn 2 the hairpin then he lost it on the next left turn .
