What really strikes me about the Dovi v Marquez rivalry we got is the mutual respect they seems to share. Sure, Dovi is one of the cleanest racers on the grid, but there's rarely and scuffles or punches thrown at the end of races. It's refreshing.
Rossi and Biaggi was always a laugh. Remember they had a fight getting onto the podium (Spain I think) and Max IIRC turned up on the podium with a black eye or marks he blamed on 'some mosquito'.
These rivalries are interesting. What created the tension between Rossi and Biaggi is even more interesting. While Rossi was in 125 or 250 he was introduced to Biaggi at a restaurant. Biaggi was basically a dick to him and the dislike between the started there.
I second that !
Nothing is more refreshing than the actual open public dislike between riders. Entertainment factor away from the circuits.
Even though, Mat Oxley might disagree there

Nah, I don't think so. Mat has written fondly of past rivalries many times. Hell, I agree it spices things up. But every now and then it's nice to see riders behave like sportsmen, and not like entitled brats.
That said, if all riders were like that, it'd be boring.
JLo drops out of a second race in succession as he elects not to race following his recent injury. He did 2 laps at Motegi in P1 before calling it a day. There is some doubt as to his being ready for P.I. next weekend.

I still wonder whether Nakagami set his q1 time, which qualified him for q2, under waved yellows in the final corner after Morbidellis crash. Unfortunately, tv used a camera that didn't show it.

Dovi-Zarco-Miller-Crutchlow-Iannone-Marquez is your Top-6 on the grid.
Great run by Zarco, the two factory M1's proved that their Buriram performance was down to the harder spec rubber for that race. Nice to see Johan back at the front.
Marquez' bike was actively trying to murder him all the way around the lap, jockeying back and forth during braking and skidding the rear tyre.
Alex Marquez had a real nasty high-sider yesterday which easily could have turned really ugly, really fast.
He'd be a 6 timer only if the Dorna didn't fell flat for Honda and changed the rookie rule in Hondas favour to get Marquez a factory seat on the spot.
And as a governing body that contineousley looks away in regards of this factory/rider combination and fails to give them slaps on the wrist even, the Dorna became a mafia at best.
For me, I appreciate what a Marc Marquez is able to do on the bike. What I absolutely discard is the Honda/Dorna mafia that comes along in Marcs aid.
Riding circuit in wrong direction. Immediate black flag? - No
Riding others off circuits on purpose. Strong fines or time penalties? - No chance.
As long as there's a second set of rules for Marc Marquez I'll discard this 'championship' as one. A mere Honda/Marquez advertisement series, filled up by non Honda parttakers to keep it looking interesting

I really wish they'd stop counting non-premier series titles in the tally. It's so stupid and misleading.

Are you referring to the Argentine GP, Andy? He had finished 5th and was given a time penalty which put him back to 18th. Or are you referring to a different instance?
While the stewards messed that decision up, there's no doubting his extraordinary ability as a bike racer. There's a good chance we'll remember him as the finest rider of all time when he retires. He's already the best of his generation.
As for the rookie rule, who cares? Good thing Honda pushed it through, to allow us to see premiere talents at the premiere level.

Marquez has toned down dramatically anyway, if this was 2014 he'd probably be involved in 3 or 4 more controversies. It's not Honda's fault Ducati struggled back in the spring. There was a time when Honda wasn't the best bike and only Marquez's talent kept them alive in the title hunt. Lorenzo will probably have a very difficult first season on a new bike but you can admire the fact the best two riders on the grid will share the same garage now.
Yeah, the rookie rule was rightfully ditched for Marquez, when a guy wins 5 MotoGP titles by the age of 25 you know he was ready for the factory bike.

Fantastic win for marquez. Dovi gave it all, but he lost where it was impossible to keep it. It was a nice race. Marquez is already a 5 times moto gp champion, and this year he didn’t do it with a dominant bike. He developed the race strategy he was lacking before.
