It is amazing how many motorsport stars seem to fall foul of training or riding on bikes.... thinking of Loeb a few years ago, when he missed a handful of WRC rallies, and Nick Heidfeld, both of who broke bones in cycling mishaps, and then there was Mark Webber who badly broke his leg when he hit a 4WD head on in an off road race. I'm sure there are many others I can't think of at the moment.Nicky Hayden RIP

First Scarponi, now Hayden and Julia Viellehner. When it rains, it pours. Don't want to hi-jack this thread with a cars vs. bikes discussion, so I'll just leave this here.

The bulletin of 5pm only highlights the very grave brain damage and keeps the reservatiinon the prognosis. His family arrived at the hospital.

I hope this doesn't end up with him in a similar situation to Michael. Whatever happens, it doesn't sound good at all.

I agree. Didn't that happen over a race weekend, either Daytona or Sebring?Andy wrote: ↑7 years agoIn all sad reality this reminds me much more to Bob Wollek than MSCtheracer120 wrote: ↑7 years ago Much like Schumacher, he's been injured outside of motorsport, which makes it more shocking in a way.

I just see a video posted by repubblca.it reporter where he says that the world "critical" is almost an euphemism, saying that a miracle is now necessary letting intend that the actual word should be desperate situation

Judging by his instagram posts, he was always wearing a helmet on his bike rides. The last one uploaded two days ago. If he was out bunch riding, we can assume he was wearing one yesterday as well.

A nice touch from his mates in MotoGP

A statement said the 35-year-old suffered serious polytrauma with subsequent serious cerebral damage in the accident and that his prognosis remains unknown.

Investigation ongoing
It must be said that there has been a lot of fuss in italy regarding this type of accident. Recently the riad manslaughter law was approved. But this kind of accident has been kept into public eye since some tragic events occurred, such as a revenge murder by the husband of the victim against the alleged killer, who had not been yet condemned in the trial. Such events explain the low profile kept by investigation
