Real Road Racing 2017
Just a couple weeks and we are on it again.
Meanwhile I`ve just had another of these nice memories from last year flashing by and posted it over on facebook because most of those involved are over there. Sorry for posting that pic in the post again but it is about my memory. Kind of aftermath. But I think it fits well into such a thread. Be sure to read the text. I very nearly choked laughing back then

Nothing wrong with memories..... the older we get the more we live on them.

Haha yes, especially if I don't write 'em down on the spot, I`ve to rely on those flashes while sipping my whiskey, lol.

The Tandragee 100 road races are underway but there is next to no coverage except for a few bits on BBC Radio Ulster. Seems Guy Martin and Paul Jordan crashed out of the open race and Derek Sheils taking victory in the 600s from William Dunlop. More news when available. Meanwhile a bit of coverage from last years races at Tandragee

On the other side of the Irish Sea the Bob Smith Spring Cup takes place at Englands only natural road race circuit, Oliver's Mount near Scarborough. Also there is no coverage so results when they become available.

Man, I'm pissed. It seems oh so important to report that Guy Martin and Paul Jordan escaped a get together unhurt as well as the meeting was abandonded following a serious incident that left the rider in critical condition. But try to find news on how the races went or at least top 5 results. Some lads over at twitter thankfully photographed the results sheets, so here you go.

The rider who was critically injured during the Tandragee 100 road races has been named as Dario Cecconi, 38, from Italy.
Darios condition has been called critically ill in the latest news yesterday afternoon. Following Darios spill the racing, one Supertwin and the Senior open race, were abandoned. While the press seems to be all over Darios spill as well as Guy Martin mishap, there still are no results posted anywhere.
All the very best to Dario for a quick but even more importantly full recovery and to his family and friends to stay strong in this tough time. Source: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-northern-ireland-39681777

25th APRIL 2017
STATEMENT REGARDING DARIO CECCONI
The North Armagh Motorcycle & Car Club (Tarmac Section) Ltd deeply regrets to announce that Dario Cecconi, a 38 year old competitor from Italy, who sustained serious injuries after the chequered flag had gone out for the Senior Support Race on Saturday 22nd April 2017 has succumbed to his injuries.
Dario was a much loved competitor, who called the Tandragee 100 his ‘home’, did much to promote the Tandragee 100 across Europe and even had a tattoo of the Tandragee 100 Course on his arm. Dario started racing for fun at track days in Tuscany on a 600cc Suzuki and at the end of 2009, he decided that road racing was what he wanted to concentrate on. On the 12th June 2010, Dario set out on his first road race, Carpasio-Pratipiani.
When Dario first came to Tandragee in 2012 and was asked for his opinion of Irish Road Racing he replied “I completely fell in love with the Irish Road Racing World! I like the riders, the courses, the spectators and everyone in and around the paddock…I come in my van, by myself, for about 45 hours only to travel 45 hours back home again and I love it. There is a special atmosphere we can find only there. No other tracks give us this thrill, and no other meetings give us the sense of being part of a family.”
When asked what makes him love racing, he gave what can only be described as an honest answer, “When I race, I feel free – I do not think, just act or react. It’s a sort of trance and it is absolutely amazing. I feel at home and calm when I have my helmet on and the visor down, it’s hard to explain…everything is natural.”
Dario will be very sadly missed by the Club. Dario was an experienced competitor who had competed in a number of Irish Road Races; this year being his 6th year at Tandragee.
The Officials and the Club extend their sympathy to Dario’s family and partner at this saddest of times.

Thank You!!!
Last season I got this as "Real Road Racing" but nothing this year.
I love it.
I was looking to post in one of those "Gotta Make Racing Safer" threads elsewhere, that I think that on that subject people fall into two basic categories. Those that feel the sooner we get remote control cars and fans seated a half mile back watching their robot cars race at 300mph on big screen TVs the better, and, guys like me that feel that the TT and this type of racing is the only real racing left on the planet.

If a man can't look at danger and still go on, man has stopped living. If the worst ever happens – then it means simply that I've been asked to pay the bill for the happiness of my life – without a moment's regret. Graham Hill
