Sorry, it was Kyle Smith struck with blindness.
But what happened on lap 1 that he got dq'ed ? Surely not the incident with Gamarino where he overtook four and Gamarino fell off in shock as that was four laps in. My coverage missed out on it completely

Red flag out
Savadoris engine blew up mid corner and the bike slipped away on its own liquids. Savadori fell off but walked away

Race red flagged for oil spillage on the track from Salvadori blown motor and crash . Race will be resumed when cleanup completed.

Edit: Whoops beaten to it

Regrid based on track position at lap 4.

Lol I thought for a second Salvadori was still lying on the track surrounded by marshalls.... it looked like he landed on his head from the highside. (It was just a pile of paper towels and cloths being used for the mop up, surrounded by marshalls mopping.!.)

Restart set for near enough 20 mins from now (16:35 local) and for 16 laps.

Yeah me too :haha:
Restart at 16:35 local so in 13min

It is like that with these highsiders. Low speed - sends you skydiving high and on the way back down you will impact at a relatively sharp angle. Pretty much similar to billiard, entry angle = exit angle. Here we have the bike movement between, which adds or subtracts a few degrees.

Highspeed highsider = low diver. Similar principle as above applies.

Injuries become worse the higher the skydive goes and at that the sharper the impact angle becomes

Yeah that confused me as well.... in no way was he at fault with Gamarino who as you said just dropped it in apparent shock and lack of peripheral awareness.

I thought that Smith's move was really a great attempt. Sailing past and going for the inside against four , looked great but with the wider exit a loss of positions too

I do like this Chang circuit. The racing was good and Davies received a nice get out of jail free card in race two. Poor Melandri though lol

Had half an eye on it. Not bad. Didn't see the last 5 laps though! Pity there aren't more on the grid this year too :(.
