Spooky, isn't it?

I tuned in on manxradio.com at around 9.45 p.m., maybe 10 p.m. when the moderator was just talking to his guest ("John") who mentioned a German firefighter he met yesterday as an example for how the TTs "brings people together" (or something similar, I don't remember exactly)

That was John Coldwell. When I went to the St. Ninians exhibition on june 1st I met Andy Findlay and we chatted a bit. Turned out he is a retired firefighter and then an american lady came in and after a bit of chatting it turned out that she had worked as a firefighter in New Jersey.

In other news, following the leightweight tt there was a 2 lap sbk/ssp practice scheduled but redflagged following an incident at the 33rd milestone.

And then it was announced that Dutchman Jochen van der Hoek succumbed to injurieS sustained in an incident at 11th milestone during the SSTK race earlier today

Pretty much a moot point to todays racing.

TTzero, ssp race 2 and 1 sbk/sidecar quali lap each are gonna be squeezed in tomorrow now

The incidents are taking the shine off of some great racing. Sadly it is the nature of the event.

I'm absolutely green with envy at you being there!! You lucky, lucky sod!

I've been following TT racing off and on since the Geoff Duke days and the Isle has been on my bucket list for a long time. Now I'm running out of time. Thanks for the news snippets here and for your own pics on your site.

Enjoy.

Thanks, Frank
It is my first time here but now that I was here once, I know where I go next year too.
Honestly, if you been here and have not done the fancy stuff only but had a chance to mix with the locals, for a quiznight for example, you'll be feeling the extremely open & friendly nature of the locals. This is what makes me wanting to return

I'll edit a couple pics of yesterdays racing later as it is not looking good weathetwise at the moment and schedule already 3h delayed

Latest news:
Flooding on the mountain. Todays racing cancelled due to heavy rain. But it was obvious from early on today.

This years 2nd Supersport race is cancelled and TTzero teams are currently in a consultation with the organizers whether their one lapper takes places

That's it guys. Senior race day is here. Roads close at 9:30 and we'll be off to Keppel Gate near the 33rd milestone. Means a very early start to get there. First race, the TTzero, will be underway from 10.15 if I recall it right.

For the moment the weather looks alright so I'm rather positive that we can get on with it.

The washout yesterday I spent with a couple sidecar teams in the lower paddock. Quite nice fellas there

Cheers

Guy Martin's lucky escape earlier this week.... fortunately he was shaken, stirred, but unhurt other than a small wrist injury.
Clip includes post crash interview.

Another clip, (not of this year but from 2011) which is bloody funny in the circumstances, after a red flag crash.
Guy Martin, Cameron Donald, John McGuinness, Bruce Anstey, Michael Dunlop, William Dunlop talk on the grid after red flag Crash. Great camraderie.

After witnessing another victory of Michael Dunlop in the Senior TT and the Birchalls double in the sidecars I'm now back to Billown for the post-TT races.
Unfortunately, the Senior race was red flagged after an incident involving Ian Hutchinson at the 27th milestone. First there were broken legs reported, then a broken femur. The latest news last night were, that he was flown off to Liverpool for further treatment, which usually isn't an all too good hint on the severity of his injuries.

All I can add is that on the TV coverage you can see he is fully conscious on the track, dragging himself out of the middle of the track where he was lying, to the edge where he was attended to. He was reported to be conscious before being flown to hospital by helicopter. Nothing further reported other than the broken femur.

Best wishes to Hutchy on a full and speedy recovery

One of my photos from the Post-TT Superbike race at Church Bends on the Billown circuit on Saturday. Unlike on the Mountain Course, they do mass starts here. #52 James Cowton leads #6 William Dunlop with #36 Jamie Coward hanging in there.
Image

My second favourite photo from the Senior TT race on Friday at the Mountain Course. #24 Shaun Anderson is on the absolute limit here at Keppel Gate shortly past the light left bend down towards Kate's Cottage. He's followed by #32 Stefano Bonetti on a much smoother approach. If I had my elbow had hanging over the wall here, he'd shoved it off. It's brutally amazing here. When the bike comes past you get the full blow of air they punch forwards and it drops you back from chest upwards. I later chatted with a Penz13 team member and he told me that the Superbikes do something around 130mph here
Image

That's it for now as I`ve to go to physio and then do the laundry. I'll sort through my photos and will post a couple later.
Bye for now
