Well, not really new but a short clip on history been made appeared on vimeo these days. Happy congrats again, Carolynn Sells. The only woman to have won a race on the Mountain Course yet. It was the Ultralightweight Manx GP of 2009. And guess what, I've met her iconic bike in person already, too 😁
Sorry though, that it is on vimeo and I don't know how to incorporate a player window from there

The annual Fishtown Road Races in the harbour if Bremerhaven, Germany will not be held in 2018 due to the DMSB not being able to held an earlier track inspection than last year ( 3 monthes).

The organizers called it for 2018 thanks to the governing motorsport body, the same governing body that is responsible for calling the IDM in 2018 so far

Troy Bayliss plans racing comeback!

Three-time World Superbike (and also a British Superbike) Champion, Australian Troy Bayliss is secretly preparing for a shock comeback next year in a Ducati-supported bid to win the Australian title that eluded him 20 years ago. As well as factory backing, additional commercial sponsorship has also been secured.
Gold Coast-based Bayliss last contested the ASBK in 1997, when he finished runner-up after finishing third in his debut season the year before. He is now 48 years old. He retired from racing near enough 10 years ago.

He still has the third highest number of WSBK wins, Good to see him returning on a Ducati, the team he enjoyed all his success with.... he is still their second highest WSBK winner behind Foggy. (and won a one off Moto GP win for them when Stoner was still a crash prone rookie in his first senior year)

I always worry when legends plan returns after lengthy retirements. I can understand his wish to add the missing Aussie title to his lengthy resume, but feel that the risk of injury is so high given the limited benefit. It is not like he needs the money as he has become a successful business operator since retiring.

Wishing him a safe and successful return in 2018.

Yeah, that kind of stuff is tempting fate. But he knows the risks and wants to do it. Best of luck to him.

Has done what no other in WSBK has done and completely outclassed his team mate in the process. Good to see motorsport individuals get recognized in SPOTY but I feel Hamilton's and Rea's accomplishments aren't mainstream enough for viewers to vote upon. That said, I'm not unhappy with Mo Farrah winning.

Motorcycles seem to have a tough standing within the Beeb anyway.

I don’t think Auntie Beeb has shown anything motorbike racing since the late 90s. I remember them showing BSB, it’s predecessor and some of the support races live, plus the British 500cc race in the 90s. Then it all moved to C4, SkySports, ITV and even C5.

They showed MotoGP live until a couple of years ago when BT Sport took over the coverage.

Following the cancellation of this years Fishtown road races in Bremerhaven by the organizers thanks to the German motorsport governing bodies DMSB incompetence more sad news concerning motorcycle racing in Germany emerged this week.

First off, the ADAC Northern Europe Cup was pronounced dead and yesterday it became clear that Yamaha pulled the plug from the national R6 Cup after 40 years of existence. First winner of this series was Martin Wimmer back in 1978, the most likely highest profiled winner was Kenan Sofouglu, multiple World Supersport champion these days.

All this news after the IDM almost been called off as well, one has to wonder whether the governing body is interested in motorcycle racing at all. The only solution might be a split off of the complete motorcycle racing section within the DMSB into an own governing body.

News filtering through that there will be an Ultralightweight race at the Manx GP for the 300 ssp, moto3 and 125cc machines this year. This would go along well with a statement by the organizers that a 2nd lightweight race is added to the schedule, which was made late last year.

A reasonable, if not cheap playground for newcomers.

Quite silently Davo Johnson has left Norton to Shaun Muir for road racing and selected BSB Races.

Enclosed in his instagram post about the news is a pic of the Gulf BMW he is to ride. Looks genius, classic colours on this bike
