Just settling in to watch race 1 now. Ducati take the first two grid spots in Superpole. (Chaz Davies on Pole ahead of Giugliano)
Sylvain Guintoli sadly had a huge highside in Superpole breaking his ankle and rendering him a DNS for the rest of the weekend.

Start delayed as two crash out on the warm up lap. Did not see who it was but think it was Sebasteyen and Schmitter. Ambulance was involved. It looked like one lowsided and the other ran into the wreckage.
Edit: No news yet on condition of riders other than it was Sebasteyen taken to medical centre.
Race reduced from 20 to 17 laps and restart is in 5 mins time.

I basically ended up missing the race due to a girl (an F1 fan) I know dropping in as the race started, to watch F1 qualy. (Now we only get live coverage on Cable TV, not FTA, she has not been able to watch F1 live) She then proceeded to blah blah blah through the entire race. I ultimately saw the result but not the race, so will have to watch the replay later.

kals wrote:Nasty incident between those two riders, hope they're both ok. It was a weird crash as the bike was upright and fell without any lean or weaving.
I can only assume it was down to cold tyres.
Here is a video of the crash. It says neither rider injured which is good news considering the footage.
Going back to Superpole 2 I mentioned earlier that Guintoli was out for the weekend after a major highside, suffering what I thought was a broken ankle. An official report from the local hospital confirms this to be the case.
The Yamaha rider reported concussion at the circuit and during further assessments prior to his transferal to Imola Hospital, the Medical Centre at the track diagnosed concussion, multiple contusions and a fracture of the left ankle.
After transferal, further checks at the hospital confirmed these diagnoses and all other medical assessments done at this time have been negative, with no other injuries found.
Further information will be published when available.

Thanks for keeping me updated, Chris !
I`ll miss todays races again due to the labour day fire station competition in neighbour village and won't be back before BSB quali and/or the first supersport race at Oulton Park.

Superpole from Sepang was a bit of an oddity as weather intervened with a brief shower minutes after the start. However, with the grid looking likely to have some new blood at the front the track quickly dried out to leave it dry enough for those on slicks to benefit. Although familiar names at the top of the time sheets, Tom Sykes took the pole, beating Yamaha’s Alex Lowes and Kawasaki teammate Jonathan Rea to the top spot.... we did end up with 5 manufacturers in the first two rows.
Race 1 was not quite so intense at the front as we had been used to this year, but featured some great tussles for the positions behind Sykes who cleared off into the distance once he had cleared the fast starting 1st lap leader Alex Lowes. I had anticipated a race with tyre choices and degredation to be a critical factor but that proved not to be the case with Sykes again setting lap record breaking pace as he cruised to a margin unseen this year. Alex Lowes ended up gradually dropping away to 10th before climbing back up to I think 5th by race end. Jonathan Rea came home second for a KRT 1-2, ahead of Ducati rider Chaz Davies.

I have watched race 1 and was pretty impressed with Reiterbergers performance (finally again). It looked like he got to grips with the bike again after the not too good european races. He was in 4th with 4 to go when his BMW gave up. And his teammate Jordi Torres then proved that this position is what the Bimmer can reach.
The supersport race now suffers from the usual afternoon washout. After 2 start attempts and a red flag after 2nd attempt we are awaiting news now on how it will continue.
EDIT: The Supersport race has been postponed until after the Superbike race which is due to start at 16:00 local, in 40min. I wonder whether they can start the Supersport race or if they shorten it because the race will lead into sunset, which is around 18:00 local

I wasn't aware there were races this weekend until I saw Johnny Rea post a couple of pictures on social media late on Saturday. There was a new winner in race 2. I'll have to go back and watch both races.

Fixed. Seems to be that in all categories.

It is indeed Hollie !
In Qualifying Shakey Byrne trashed the circuit record with a 120mph lap. Also the dead heat in the supersport race between Tarran Mckenzie and Mason Law for third was something to watch
