You're right, it is not the same without Stoner. MotoGP without Stoner is a pleasant place, where riders respect each other and the racing is good.

Rossi didn't seem too far away from the Spaniards at this race, but perhaps you're right. I give Rossi until the end of this or next season. The good thing is, is that he's not doing a Schumi and destroying his reputation with his return to Yamaha.caneparo wrote:Rossi must retirekals wrote:Rossi was fastest in second practice at Barcelona today, just ahead of Lorenzo. Yes Rossi maybe not challenging Lorenzo, but he's not being dangerous, making daft mistakes and generally being slow is he?

for sure he's not being dangerous; in 2012 Schumi was a geriatric case.
Unfortunatelly Rossi lost two years at Ducati, or maybe he gained them?

So, Lorenzo (could be) out for the Dutch TT. This puts some added pressure on Pedrosa to win I think. He now holds all the cards in the championship.

Lorenzo has broken his collar bone. So he misses the Dutch GP.

Not so fast..... he has undergone successful surgery and.....erwin greven wrote:Lorenzo has broken his collar bone. So he misses the Dutch GP.
It seems Marquez also had a huge accident resulting in a broken finger. He will race, being 'just a finger'.Lorenzo underwent surgery in Barcelona overnight. Yamaha has not ruled out the possibility of the world champion trying to race on Saturday.

Having read a little more of his operation it sounds to me dubious he would be able to start. He apparently flew to Spain for a 2 hour op and is scheduled to fly back at 3pm. He has been declared medically fit to fly but not yet to my knowledge to race. The surgery seems to have been fairly major, and for repairs to a 'fragmented collar bone'.
The Majorcan broke his collarbone when he came off while travelling at over 200kph during a wet practice session on Thursday and flew to Spain that evening for an operation that lasted two hours.
"It's been a challenging operation, apparently successful," doctor Michele Zasa said. "We inserted a titanium plate and eight screws to secure the fragments of the collarbone."

Well if you've any doubt as to whether or not he can physically race, cast your mind back to Shanghai in his debut year and THAT accident in practice.

Hmmmm, well a latest update indeed confirms his intent to race.
Should he by chance pass the fitness and take to the start he will not be at the rear of grid, and would in fact line up 12th.After undergoing an operation for a broken collarbone in Barcelona during the early hours of Friday morning, Jorge Lorenzo has returned to Assen and plans to undergo a medical examination on Saturday morning with the hope of competing in the race.
The Mallorcan, highly keen to compete in the seventh round of the season, will head to the Medical Centre for his check-up at 8am local time (GMT +2) on Saturday.
Should he be declared medically fit to race, Lorenzo will start from 12th on the grid. Despite not having set a lap time in Q2, he was officially entered into the pole shootout courtesy of his overall fastest time from across the opening trio of practice sessions; his leading FP1 time was not beaten in either FP2 or FP3, as both took place amid adverse weather conditions.

The first British rider to get a pole position in the top class for over a decade.
Well done to Crutchlow. Also to Bradl on making the outside of row 1, behind Marquez.
Rossi in 4th, with Pedrosa 5th having dumped it 5 mins from the end of qualy.
Bradley Smiths took the last place on the second row with his best ever qualifying result.
A good day for the Brits, whilst relatively not so for the Spanish....
With showers predicted for raceday it could be interesting..... maybe a new / 1st time winner? Or even an ol' timer returned (to the top step)
