Japanese 1930s crash, Unknown?

Post by Motorsportrace » 9 months ago

I've found this image some years ago:

Image

Many Japanese websites say it's Soichiro Honda's crash, but it really doesn't look like it:

I can't find anything else on the internet.

If someone could read Japanese...

Apparently the big text says "The Accident In The Race", the rest is not readable because it's too small.

But a Google Search for the image says it's Tamagawa Speedway, which has just sparked a weird "Omg" moment for me.

The grandstand from the circuit is still there and I passed by on a train on the way to the beach a few weeks ago. I wondered what the hell a concrete stand was doing on the bank. It turns out I'd just passed the old Tamagawa Speedway site!!!

Very interesting.
Soichiro Honda's crash happened at the Tamagawa Speedway as well, but I think they are two different accidents...

Its translated from Japanese
Legend at the Tamagawa Speedway
"The 1st All Japan Auto Race Tournament" held at the Tama River Speedway in Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, on the Tama River riverbed on 1976 (1936) .
In this race held in Japan as the first permanent circuit (oval course), this race opened as a shakedown of the Tamagawa Speedway, Mr. Soichiro Honda accompanied his brother Mr. Junjiro Honda, who made his own work "Hamamatsu" I took a ride by self-propelled.
Although it is the Hamamatsu that boasts outstanding speed, how much it touched the whole car and rolled over. Mr. Souichiro and Mr. Vanjiro will be injured seriously.
